Fantasy Football Trade Advice: Josh Jacobs, DJ Moore, Gabe Davis (Week 3)

Week two is in the books, and it already feels like chaos has reached a fever pitch across the NFL. We’ve seen plenty of upsets, plenty of stars underwhelm, and some rookies who received little fanfare throughout the spring and summer see themselves become fixtures in fantasy football lineups. You’re likely looking at your roster and beaming over the points your team has scored thus far, or you’re itching to make a move that could help elevate your team.

Early Week 3 Fantasy Football Trade Advic

Three Players to Sell

Gabe Davis (WR – BUF)

Gabe Davis had one of his spike weeks in week two, hauling in six receptions for 92 yards and a touchdown. The problem with Davis remains what it always has been – it’s impossible to count on that level of production on a week-to-week basis. In best ball formats, you’re happy to have him on your roster, but in more traditional formats where you’re setting your lineup weekly, trying to determine when to play Davis is not for the faint of heart. I’d package Davis with another mid-range wide receiver to upgrade the position. Consider sending an offer of something like Gabe Davis and Nico Collins for a player more firmly entrenched in the WR2 range, such as Michael Pittman Jr.

DJ Moore (WR – CHI)

It hurts whenever I mention DJ Moore as a sell because I love the player. He’s one of the most exciting wide receivers in football and is coming off his first 100-yard performance as a Chicago Bear. My concern with rostering DJ Moore in seasonal formats this year is relying on consistency from the Chicago passing game under quarterback Justin Fields. Fields is an incredibly dynamic player and an elite option for fantasy purposes. Still, he needs to continue to develop as a passer to ensure Moore’s upside is unlocked weekly. If you have a chance to move Moore coming off of his big game in exchange for a player who’s mildly underperformed through two weeks (think AJ Brown), it’s worth kicking the tires.

Josh Jacobs (RB – LV)

Josh Jacobs has been anything but efficient to start his 2023 campaign. The 2022 rushing leader has carried the ball 28 times for a grand total of 46 yards thus far. One glimmer of hope is that he saw six targets in week two that he turned into five receptions and 51 yards, but there are real concerns for everyone on the Las Vegas offense not named Davante Adams for the remainder of this season. Jacobs still carries name value coming off of his stellar 2022 season, so now may be the time to try and move him while you can, rather than holding and potentially trying to sell lower later.
