Fantasy Football Sleepers: Most Accurate Expert Picks in 2022

Fantasy Football Sleepers: Most Accurate Expert Picks in 2022

It’s the 15th round of your draft. It’s gone OK. You know you need another running back for your bench, but who do you draft? There are lots of options, but they come in just two categories: names you don’t know, and names that make you think, “that guy’s still in the league?” Advice for your fantasy league is kind of our whole thing here at FantasyPros, and this situation is a great application of our Sleeper Rankings.

For sleepers, we ask fantasy experts to submit a list of the low-end players they think are most likely to rise to the level of fantasy difference-makers. Specifically, we ask each expert to provide:

  • 2 Quarterbacks outside the top 15 (according to our Expert Consensus Rankings)
  • 4 Running Backs outside the top 45
  • 4 Wide Receivers outside the top 55
  • 2 Tight Ends outside the top 15
  • 1 Team Defense outside the top 10

The most important part of giving fantasy advice is figuring out if your advice is any good, and we’ve developed a Sleeper Rankings Accuracy Methodology to that end. You can follow the link for all the details, but the short version is this: We judge the experts on how many fantasy points their picks scored throughout the season compared to a replacement-level player, with bonuses for ranking successful players higher.

Last year we had 81 experts submit sleeper rankings, and now it’s time to learn whose were the most accurate!

Our winner is Dalton Del Don from Yahoo! He was the only expert to rank in the top 15 at all three of QB, WR and RB. Not only did he hit on the chalkier picks like Trevor Lawrence and Dameon Pierce, but he was also one of only five experts (in a field of 81) to pick Jeff Wilson Jr. as one of his four RBs.

Second place goes to Nick Spencer for Fantasy Six Pack, who landed in the top 10 for QB, RB and TE. He was one of only 11 experts to pick Evan Engram, the best available TE sleeper. He tied to rank first for QBs, with our third place winner, FantasyPros’ own Andrew Erickson! Erickson earned the distinction of being the only expert to finish in the top 20 for all four of QB, RB, WR and TE.
