Ezekiel Elliott: ‘very real chance he becomes goal-line back’

According to Chad Graff of The Athletic, Ezekiel Elliott could become the go-to goal-line back for the Patriots in 2023.

Fantasy Impact

Elliott emerging as a goal-line back for the Patriots could be promising for the veteran RB’s fantasy stock in 2023, as he has shown a knack for the end zone throughout his time in Dallas, including 10+ TDs in three of the last four seasons. Conversely, this role for Zeke could lead to a hit in Rhamondre Stevenson‘s upside this season. The Patriots are notorious for using a split backfield, and despite Stevenson’s emergence in 2022, it seems like the team will be returning to their usual mold of splitting the backfield work.

David Montgomery likely to be Lions lead goal-line back

David Montgomery is expected to be the Lions lead goal-line back in 2023, taking over the Jamaal Williams role.

Fantasy Impact

Williams scored an incredible NFL leading 17 rushing touchdowns in 2022, and Montgomery has the opportunity to step into his shoes. It’s unlikely he gets 17 rushing touchdowns, but 10-12 are in the range of outcomes for Montgomery. He’ll be a valueable asset if anything were to happen to Jahmyr Gibbs, and an RB3/flex type of play when both are healthy.

Nick Bosa: 49ers agree to blockbuster deal

According to Adam Schefter on Twitter, the 49ers and all-pro DE Nick Bosa have agreed to a five-year deal to make Bosa the highest-paid defensive player in the NFL.

Fantasy Impact

Bosa is slated to receive $170 million over the next five seasons, including a staggering $122.5 million in guarantees. The 2022 DPOY earned a big contract, and the 49ers gave him one despite some concerns about salary cap constraints. Short-term, this improves the 49ers’ chances to win a tough Week 1 road matchup in Pittsburgh.
