C.J. Stroud (shoulder) a true game-time decision for Week 2

Texans’ rookie QB, C.J. Stroud, who is dealing with shoulder soreness in his throwing arm is expected to be a game-time decision ahead of the Texans’ Week 2 game vs. Indy.

Fantasy Impact

Stroud set an NFL record for most pass attempts in a debut without an INT against Baltimore in Week 1, but shoulder soreness threatens to sideline him from extending the streak in Week 2. If Stroud cannot go, former Texans’ starter Davis Mills will be given the keys to the offense. Regardless of Strouds’ availability, the Texans will likely lean on Dameon Pierce and the run game against a weak Colts defense in Week 2. If you currently have Stroud in your lineup, it is worth stashing a backup and staying alert as to whether he will be suiting up.

DeAndre Hopkins (ankle) is ‘expected to play’ Week 2 vs the Chargers

According to Adam Schefter, DeAndre Hopkins, who was considered questionable due to an ankle injury, is expected to play vs. the Chargers.

Fantasy Impact

Hopkins did not log any practice this past week, but it appears the team was acting out of an abundance of caution with the aging star, as he is healthy enough to give it a go in Week 2. Hopkins registered a team-high 13 targets in Week 1, and despite a poor overall output from the Titans’ offense, he managed double-digit fantasy production. Assuming he will play without a snap count, Hopkins is a fine WR2 option with upside if he finds the end zone for the first time with Tennessee.

Brandin Cooks (knee) not expected to suit up in Week 2

Brandin Cooks, who is dealing with a knee sprain, is not expected to play in Week 2 vs. the Jets according to Adam Schefter on Twitter.

Fantasy Impact

Cooks did not do much in his Dallas debut, as the Cowboys ran all over the Giants, and now fantasy managers will have to wait for the veteran wideout to make an impact on his new team as he is sidelined with this knee injury. With Cooks out, Jalen Tolbert should see playing time, with Michael Gallup to get more of the target share, too.
