Tuesday’s Top Underdog Fantasy MLB Pick ‘Em Picks

Bryan Reynolds: 8.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

According to FanGraphs, Reynolds has 16 homers, six stolen bases, a .336 OBP, .238 ISO and 123 wRC+ in 339 plate appearances versus righties in 2023. And Adam Wainwright is washed-up. Waino’s coughed up a .377 batting average, .436 OBP and .658 slugging to 166 lefties this season.

Michael Chavis: 0.5 Total Bases – Lower

Chavis has started only 23 games on the short side of a platoon this year. He had three plate appearances or fewer in 14 of those games. In addition, he had two plate appearances or fewer 10 times and reached only one plate appearance in four starts. Chavis’s lack of plate appearances puts a ton of pressure on a hitter with a .244 batting average to record a hit to exceed 0.5 total bases.

Freddie Freeman: 9.5 Fantasy Points – Higher

Freeman has 11 homers, eight stolen bases, a .325 batting average, .411 OBP, .199 ISO and 151 wRC+ in 389 plate appearances against right-handed pitchers this year. On the flip side, Noah Syndergaard has allowed a .299 batting average, .335 OBP, .541 slugging and .368 wOBA to 170 left-handed batters. Syndergaard has also allowed 31 stolen bases in 16 starts this year.

Austin Riley: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher

Riley has smashed righties at home this season. In 240 plate appearances in same-handed matchups at Truist Park this year, the right-handed-hitting third baseman has 14 doubles, one triple, 14 homers, a .309 batting average, .576 slugging and .267 ISO. And Tylor Megill has yielded 10 doubles, six homers, a .291 batting average and .447 slugging to 206 righties this year.

Matt Olson: 1.5 Total Bases – Higher

Olson has better numbers against righties than Riley, and Megill struggles more against lefties than against righties. In 232 plate appearances against righties at home this year, Olson has eight doubles, one triple, 22 homers, a .292 batting average, .682 slugging and .390 ISO. Meanwhile, Megill’s allowed 10 doubles, six homers, a .305 batting average and .473 slugging to 191 lefties in 2023.
