Texans vs. Patriots NFL Preseason DFS Picks

Houston Texans Targets

Case Keenum (QB – HOU)
With week one of preseason about to kick off, we want to look past the apparent C.J. Stroud and over to Case Keenum. Did you know Case Keenum has played three preseason games every season since 2018, with 30 plus passing attempts through each of those preseason? Did you know that in the last two seasons, he has thrown 48 and 49 attempts in the preseason? He is a seasoned vet who they use to eat up time on the clock because he learns the playbook more quickly than younger players.

Gerrid Doaks (RB – Hou)
It’s the first week of the preseason. We won’t see last year’s rookie star in Dameon Pierce. We won’t see this year’s free agency signing in Devin Singletary for ample time. These vacancies open the door for the running backs in this new San Francisco-style offense to provide fantasy points. Doaks hits the markers we look for in height and weight (under six feet and over 215 lbs). Therefore we have a chance of some yards and Doaks falling in the endzone.

Mike Boone (RB – HOU)
Another running back who has been electric in training camp so far is Mike Boone. He is a bit lighter than what we usually chase but by only nine lbs. Therefore, watching Boone escape for a 70-yard touchdown this past week during camp is enough to get us on board in a GPP-style play.

Noah Brown (WR – HOU)
In the preseason, chasing a veteran player who is pushed down the team’s depth chart can lead to DFS gold. Noah Brown should see enough time to do some damage. Tie in his playing time with his height and weight scale (we look for over six feet and 215 lbs) and we have a player who can land us the coveted touchdowns that come few and far between in the week one preseason slate.

Xavier Hutchinson (WR – HOU)
One of my favorite late-round draft capital players (sixth round) has a chance to show off what he can do against the New England Patriots. Standing 6’3 and over 200 lbs, Hutchinson can be a preseason MVP. He reminds us of Romeo Doubs, a former preseason MVP. Hutchinson is a bit faster than Noah Brown, but the double stack to Keenum could be a way to take over a slate.

New England Patriots Targets

Kevin Harris (RB – NE)
We know that Rhamondre Stevenson isn’t going to take a ton of snaps, if any, in this preseason game. With that opening and the vacancy created by the departure of Damien Harris., we could see Kevin Harris have a chance to shine in this game for the New England Patriots. Harris weighs 220 lbs and stands at 5’10. His game reminds us of Kerryon Johnson, a player with all the talent in the world. Please give me a player like that in my DFS lineup.

Demario Douglas (WR – NE)
He is not usually a target of mine due to his stature. Douglas stands at 5’8 and weighs 170 lbs. However, coaching had Douglas with the ones in the part of practice this week. In a GPP, he could be worth a shot with his 4.44 40-yard dash speed.
