Wednesday's Starting Pitcher Strategy
Saving cap space to spend on a forthcoming elite offense in the dreamiest hitting conditions is critical for success tonight. So, the two suggested hurlers have salary-cap-friendly salaries.
Starting Pitcher Recommendations:
Ryan Pepiot (LAD) vs. ARI
The Dodgers haven't announced a starter, but Roster Resource and DK project Pepiot to toe the slab. He's pitched well for the Dodgers in two multi-inning appearances this year. According to FanGraphs, Pepiot has had a 2.00 ERA, 2.41 xFIP, 2.32 SIERA, 0.78 WHIP, 2.9 BB%, 32.4 K%, 33.1 CSW%, 102 Stuff+, 101 Location+ and 102 Pitching+ in 9.0 innings. Pepiot should be stretched to nearly a full workload for this start after throwing 75 pitches on August 19 and 76 on August 24.
The matchup is a mixed bag, though. So, there's some risk. Thankfully, the Diamondbacks are in a funk. Arizona is 25th in wRC+ (86) and has a 21.2 K% in the previous 30 days.
Andre Jackson (PIT) at KC
Jackson's pitched well lately. In his previous five appearances (two starts) spanning 19.0 innings, he's had a 3.32 ERA, 3.94 xFIP, 3.64 SIERA, 1.05 WHIP, 6.5 BB%, 26.0 K%, 30.6 CSW%, 97 Stuff+, 103 Location+ and 101 Pitching+. Thus, Jackson is significantly underpriced at DK and FD relative to his recent results.
Moreover, the matchup is outstanding. The Royals are tied for 28th in wRC+ (82) and have a 23.1 K% versus righties in 2023. Kansas City is 19th in wRC+ (94) and has a 20.0 K% in the previous 30 days. They're also 24th in wRC+ (90) at home this year.
Top Lineup Stacks
The Braves left an army on base last night, scratching across only three runs despite rattling off 15 hits and working a walk. The offense is a juggernaut and should have more success lighting up the scoreboard tonight against Kyle Freeland. The veteran lefty has a 4.68 ERA, 4.63 xFIP and 1.49 WHIP in 67.1 innings at home this year. Freeland has also coughed up a .369 OBP, .507 slugging and .375 wOBA to 233 righties at home in 2023. So, Atlanta's righties are the most exciting stacking options against Freeland.
- In 364 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Ozzie Albies has had 17 homers, a .343 OBP, .243 ISO and 140 wRC+.
- Austin Riley has had 23 homers, a .365 OBP, .263 ISO and 147 wRC+ in 436 plate appearances against southpaws since 2021.
- In 173 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Orlando Arcia has had eight homers, a .364 OBP, .207 ISO and 130 wRC+.
- Connor Joe has had 10 homers, a .366 OBP, .175 ISO and 115 wRC+ in 381 plate appearances against lefties since 2021.
- In 202 plate appearances against lefties since 2021, Harrison Bader has had eight homers, a .332 OBP, .227 ISO and 127 wRC+.
- James Outman has 16 homers, 11 stolen bases, a .345 OBP, .227 ISO and 122 wRC+ in 330 plate appearances against righties this season.
Wednesday's Hitter Strategy
The Braves are the backbone of offenses on tonight's DFS main slate. Fortunately, the suggested values/punts can open the requisite cap space needed to stack the Braves.
