Fantasy Sports Knockout is the newest experience in fantasy sports. It combines a traditional fantasy league with a knockout pool. In the words of the founder:

A friend invited me to play in a new game and I loved it immediately. I loved the concept, loved the challenge, and was surprised to learn that no one was doing this type of pool on a national level. I’ve run a lot of fantasy leagues so I took the game to my friends. I expanded upon it a bit and found a site to run the fantasy aspect. It caught on quickly with my crowd but I was left with a big problem: finding a way to track the knockout features. It was a lot of work to keep track of who was in, who was out, who was eligible for other prizes, etc. Because no site was running this type of game, it had to be run manually to a large degree. And, since the game was new and so different, it was difficult for people to fully understand the concept. I started to build a site to track my own game with my group of players, and then realized that this could be something that people beyond my circle could enjoy as well.

Fantasy Sports Knockout lets you create your own private league with unique scoring and player restriction settings, or you can join a public contest and win prizes (available in select states). It’s that easy!

Standard Knockout Contest Gameplay

At its core, Fantasy Sports Knockout is a knockout pool with fantasy teams. Or it’s a fantasy league with knockouts. Whichever way you choose to look at it, it’s a unique blend. The basic idea is that there is only one winner: The last entry not to be eliminated. How you get there can be as simple as Fantasy Sports Knockout’s basic Knockout Contest, where a group of entries is eliminated each week based on the lowest scores until a champion is crowned the final week.

Number of League Members & Elimination Process

Technically, there is no limit on the number of users who can be in any one contest. However, all site games will set a pre-determined number of users that can participate prior to making the contest available. Since there is no “snake draft”, there is no limit on athletic talent. Multiple users could pick the same athletes – similar to daily fantasy sports platforms.

The knockout methodology involves basic division —

# of users ÷ # of weeks = (total rounded # to be eliminated each week; other than final week)

  • Example 1: 300 users ÷10 weeks = 30 people eliminated each week, 29 eliminated on final week
  • Example 2: 18 users ÷ 17 weeks = 1 person eliminated each week, 1 eliminated on final week
  • Example 3: 32 users ÷ 15 weeks = 2 people eliminated each week, 3 eliminated on final week
  • Example 4: 50 users ÷ 17 weeks = 3 people eliminated each week, 1 eliminated on final week

Don’t wait! Get over to Fantasy Sports Knockout and prove you can be the final fantasy sports player standing.

Week 1 Picks

Sam Howell (QB – WAS)
Howell presents intriguing fantasy football upside given his abilities with his arm and his legs. While he is a bit of a risk in season-long leagues given he could be benched in favor of Jacoby Brissett at some point, this makes him all the better to utilize early in your Knockout contests. He faces off against one of the worst squads in the league to start the season, the Arizona Cardinals. Howell allows you to save some of your stronger plays at QB for later in the season while still providing a chance at a decent ceiling and floor due to his rushing upside and the talent on the offense surrounding him.

Jamaal Williams (RB – NO)
With Alvin Kamara sidelined for the first few weeks of the new season due to suspension and rookie Kendre Miller nursing an injury, Jamaal Williams is in line to see all the carries he can handle Week 1 against the Titans. The Saints are favored at home against the Titans, and this a spot where Williams could very well touch the ball 30 times, including red-zone carries. It will be wise to use Williams one of the first three weeks of the season during Kamara’s suspension. Week 1 seems like a great opportunity.
