Kenny McIntosh getting a chance to show what he can do

Kenny McIntosh is expected to have a larger role on offense during the preseason given the injuries to Kenneth Walker and Zach Charbonnet. The 7th-round rookie out of Georgia has been splitting 1st-team reps with fourth-year pro, DeeJay Dallas, showcasing his explosiveness at sub-200 pounds and proficiency as a receiver. Head coach Pete Carroll says he was one of the “highlighted players” during off-season activities and training camp.

Fantasy Impact

Per usual of most Georgia running backs, Kenny McIntosh had to bide his time before getting the opportunity to shine in the Bulldogs’ offense. With Zamir White and James Cook drafted to the NFL in 2022, McIntosh got his shot to perform. He led Georgia in rushing yards (824) and thrived as a receiver out of the backfield. McIntosh earned PFF’s highest receiving grade among all RBs in the FBS (86.8) due in part to compiling the second-most receiving yards among RBs (509). With solid size (listed as 6-foot-1 and 204 pounds) and a dynamite receiving profile, McIntosh could have some serious fantasy football sleeper appeal with his newfound opportunities in an injury-ridden Seattle backfield. Shouldn’t be overlooked that in 2021, McIntosh was posting better per-snap numbers than both White and Cook as both a rusher/receiver as PFF’s 8th-highest graded RB in the FBS among running backs with at least 50 carries. McIntosh can compete, and the path for touches is there for the taking in Seattle.

C.J. Stroud putting in extra work amidst QB competition

C.J. Stroud has requested additional film to help him prepare him for the potential starting QB job, and is staying focused on getting better each day as he and Davis Mills continue to split first-team reps.

Fantasy Impact

While it may seem that Stroud becoming the starting QB is inevitable, the team continues to split the practice reps with the starting unit. Fantasy managers may have to wait until August 10th to know who the starter will be, which is when the Texans take on the Patriots in their preseason opener.

Xavier Hutchinson standing out in practice

Xavier Hutchinson has been making plays in training camp, and has coach DeMeco Ryans excited to see him improve and continue to leverage his combination of size and speed.

Fantasy Impact

Hutchinson and Tank Dell are two rookies looking to claim a role in the Texans’ receiver rotation, along with offseason acquisition Robert Woods and 2022 second-round draft pick John Metchie who missed his entire rookie season. Both rookies are receiving a lot of attention so far in training camp.

Tank Dell impressing coaches at camp

Tank Dell has been impressing both coaches and fans at Texans training camp, after making several ‘exciting’ and ‘explosive’ plays and “consistently getting open” according to coach DeMeco Ryans.

Fantasy Impact

There are ample target opportunities in Houston, and Dell is making a case to become one of C.J. Stroud‘s favorite targets. Dell is currently drafted as WR82 according to FantasyPros consensus ADP, and his cost could quickly rise if this training camp performance continues.
