Javonte Williams could begin season on pitch count

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi indicated that RB Javonte Williams‘ early-season load could be limited before it starts to expand.

Fantasy Impact

Williams is coming off an ACL tear that ended his 2022 season prematurely. After opening camp off the field, Williams has begun to ease back into things. He sat out the first preseason game but played in the Broncos’ second, seeing three carries and five targets for 30 yards. However, it seems he is not a full-go to begin the season and won’t take over as the team’s bell-cow back. RB Semaje Perine should be the Broncos’ top option outside of Williams early in the season and could be an early-year play for fantasy managers dealing with injuries or suspensions.

Joshua Palmer could be early-season favorite as LA’s WR3

Joshua Palmer is currently the front-runner to become the Chargers’ WR3 to begin the regular season.

Fantasy Impact

Palmer has been playing behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams for the past two years primarily working in the slot. With the Chargers drafting WR Quentin Johnston, Palmer’s odds of slot work dwindled. With how Palmer looks in camp the WR3 position looks like it will be Palmer’s for the foreseeable future.

Keenan Allen serving as focal point in Chargers offense

Keenan Allen is serving as the focal point in this high-powered and pass-heavy Chargers offense.

Fantasy Impact

Allen has proven time and time again that he can be the true No.1 on any offense, the problem is he can’t stay on the field. In Allen’s 10-year career, he only played all 16 games just three times. That doesn’t stop his production as he posts 1000+ yard seasons like they are nothing. The 31-year-old is going off as the WR18 with no signs of slowing down. Given that this offense is only going to throw the ball more and more, he could creep into the top 10 by the end of the year.
