Jonathan Taylor not traded by deadline, starting on PUP

Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor was not traded ahead of his previously given Tuesday deadline and will begin the NFL season on the physically unable to perform list.

Fantasy Impact

Taylor will begin the season on the PUP list, forcing him to miss the first four games of the season. The saga will only continue between Taylor and the Colts’, as his trade request stands and the Colts did not get what they were looking for in return. It’s possible he holds out for more time this season, which would put RBs Zack Moss, Evan Hull and Deon Jackson in line for touches. The situation could continue to get ugly until the NFL trade deadline hits.

De’Von Achane (shoulder) practices Tuesday

De’Von Achane (shoulder) is participating in Miami’s practice on Tuesday in a non-contact jersey.

Fantasy Impact

Achane suffered a shoulder injury in the preseason that has left him sidelined for a solid chunk of time, but he’s been spotted back at practice in a red non-contact jersey. This indicates that he’s not yet fully healthy, but he’s on his way and it’s a good sign that he’s back at practice. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status to see if he’ll be ready to go for Miami’s Week 1 opener against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Dalvin Cook (shoulder) practicing Tuesday

Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is making his debut at New York’s practice on Tuesday.

Fantasy Impact

Cook signed with the Jets two weeks ago, but he hasn’t been practicing for a while and will make his debut on Tuesday. It’s unclear if his extended absence was because of the recovery for his shoulder surgery, the birth of his child, or both, but either way he’s back and practicing now. This is a step in the right direction for his fantasy outlook, but his value will largely come down to how healthy Breece Hall is come Week 1.

Von Miller to be left on PUP list; ineligible for first four games

Von Miller will be left on Buffalo’s PUP list and will be ineligible to play in at least the first four games of this season.

Fantasy Impact

Miller is still recovering from a torn ACL that he suffered on Thanksgiving Day last year, and he won’t be ready to go for Week 1. The team is leaving him on the PUP list, which means that he will have to miss the first four weeks of the season at the bare minimum. His eventual return will be a big boost for Buffalo’s defense, but until then, they’ll have to look to players like Leonard Floyd and Greg Rousseau to step up in his absence.
