We have made it through another week of action, and there continue to be endless injuries we need to account for on our rosters. Unfortunately, there have also been a lot of solid and slow starts from players that leave us wondering what to do with those roster spots.
Each week I will highlight a few players to target in your weekly FAAB process, but know there are many others available and, more importantly, others that may be better fitting for your teams. If you have any questions, please ask me on Twitter (@bdentrek).
Remember that we’ll be using Yahoo for player percentages, and we’ll keep our suggestion to players rostered in no more than 60 percent of leagues.

Carpenter entered Friday riding a 12-game hitting streak, hitting .455 with five home runs. Carpenter has contributed 12 runs scored while driving in seven as well. He barreled the ball 13.6 percent of the time over the stretch with a 1.364 OPS. Carpenter’s plated discipline was also great; he only struck out 12.5 percent of the time. He’s playing so well that Carpenter is even getting starts versus LHP. If you need power, then Carpenter should be on your bid lists this week.

Since returning from the IL on August 2nd, Hayes has been locked in at the plate. He’s hitting .314 with seven extra-base hits, including three home runs. Hayes drove in 12 runs while barreling the ball 11.6 percent of the time with a 62.8 percent hard-hit rate. Hayes had a .275 ISO while only striking out 16.4 percent of the time. While Hayes is healthy, he can bring some much-needed fantasy production to your roster.
Rostered: 36%
Suggested Bid: 17%
Lewis returned from the IL this week and collected four hits in his first two games. He hit in the middle of the Twins’ order, which will add to his fantasy goodness. On the season, Lewis is hitting .343 with four home runs, 12 runs scored, 17 RBI, and two stolen bases over 108 plate appearances. Lewis has a great hit tool and will play daily in the middle of the Twins’ batting order. Lewis should be one of the top priority adds this week.

Silseth rejoined the Angels rotation on July 19th and has been outstanding over four starts. Silseth has thrown 22.2 innings while allowing four runs and striking out 31. He has done this against tough matchups in the Yankees, Braves, Mariners, and Astros, so this was a challenging stretch for Silseth. The Angels won’t be able to take Silseth out of the rotation while he’s pitching like this, so make sure you do not miss his upcoming starts on your fantasy team.

Ragans joined the Royals rotation on July 15th and has made four starts where he allowed six earned runs over 22.2 innings while striking out 27. That’s good for a 2.38 ERA and 3.17 xFIP with a 20.2 percent K-BB. On Friday, he threw six innings in Wrigley and allowed three runs while striking out nine. Ragans has been a great source of strikeouts with excellent ratios and should be a primary add behind Silseth this week.

Suggested Bid: 2%
Blackburn has been sneaky good over his last five starts. He has allowed seven runs over 30 innings while striking out 30. He has a 2.10 ERA and 3.95 xFIP with a 15.1 percent K-BB. Wins may be tough to come by as Blackburn pitches for the A’s, but decent ratios and strikeouts should be in the cards for Blackburn. He has been a deeper league target for now, but he’s 12-team viable, depending on his upcoming matchups.

Andres Munoz took over closing duties in Seattle when Paul Sewald was traded to the DBacks. Munoz did great initially but began to struggle, opening the door for Brash. Brash has stepped in and picked up saves in his last two outings while allowing a run and striking out two. Brash has an outstanding 27.5 percent K-BB this season, and he should play very well as a closer for a playoff-contending team in the Mariners.

With all the trades the White Sox made and Liam Hendricks having Tommy John surgery, Santos has taken over closing duties in Chicago. Over his last six outings, he has picked up three saves, and outside of a three-run blown save in his previous outing, Santos has been solid. The White Sox may not win many games, but when they do, Santos is the arm you want to roster.
