Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Report: Eddie Rosario, Tommy Pham, JoJo Romero (Week 21)

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Report: Eddie Rosario, Tommy Pham, JoJo Romero (Week 21)

We have made it through another week of action, and there continue to be endless injuries we need to account for on our rosters. Unfortunately, there have also been a lot of solid and slow stretches from players that leave us wondering what to do with those roster spots.

Each week, I will highlight a few players to target in your weekly FAAB process, but know there are many others available and, more importantly, others that may be better fitting for your teams. If you have any questions, please ask me on Twitter (@bdentrek).

Remember that we’ll be using Yahoo for player percentages, and we’ll keep our suggestion to players rostered in no more than 60% of leagues.

Fantasy Baseball FAAB Waiver Wire Report

Hitters

Eddie Rosario (OF – ATL)

Rostered: 48%
Suggested Bid: 6%

Rosario has been on fire over the last few weeks, and he heads into some great matchups next week. Over Rosario’s previous 13 games since August 8, Rosario is hitting .422 with four doubles and four home runs. He also has 15 RBI to go with a stolen base.

Rosario is barreling the ball nearly 14% of the time to go with a .356 ISO and 1.236 OPS. The Braves play seven games next week, three in Coors, but do face four LHP, which may limit Rosario’s starts. He’s still an excellent pick-up for next week and going forward, but realize Rosario may sit versus some lefties.

Tommy Pham (OF – ARI)

Rostered: 30%
Suggested Bid: 6%

Pham is on a heater as he enters Thursday’s action riding a 13-game hitting streak. He’s hitting .296 over the streak with nine extra-base hits, including three home runs. Pham has been hitting 3rd for the DBacks, allowing him to score ten runs while driving in 14 during the streak.

Pham is barreling the ball around 9% of the time with an impressive 61.1% hard-hit rate. Pham is locked in and should be rostered in most 12-team and deeper leagues.

Josh Rojas (2B,3B – SEA)

Rostered: 14%
Suggested Bid: 3%

With the Mariners releasing Kolten Wong, Rojas has taken over everyday second base duties and is flourishing. Over his last 11 games since August 11, Rojas is hitting .395 with two home runs and three stolen bases. He’s hitting ninth, but with Julio Rodriguez going nuts, Rojas has contributed 13 runs scored over this stretch.

Rojas was once a nice power and speed target with the DBacks, and he has found some of that success with the Mariners. He makes for some fantastic MI or CI depth in specific formats.

Pitchers

Tarik Skubal (SP – DET)

Rostered: 48%
Suggested Bid: 7%

Skubal has looked brilliant while struggling since returning to the Tigers. He has made nine starts with five starts, allowing one run or less, while the other four starts he has allowed at least four runs.

Even with the up-and-down production, Skubal is striking out plenty, with 50 strikeouts over 44.1 innings pitched and a 23.7% K-BB. He has an intriguing 2-step next week versus the Yankees and at the White Sox, making him an even more intriguing pick-up.

Seth Lugo (SP – SD)

Rostered: 41%
Suggested Bid: 8%

Lugo is having a solid season for the Padres. Over his last seven starts, he has allowed two earned runs or less in six, good for five quality starts. He has 43 strikeouts over 40.1 innings pitched with an 18.8% K-BB. Lugo is scheduled to face the Cardinals and Giants next week, which should lead to two more quality outings.

Cole Ragans (SP – KC)

Rostered: 35%
Suggested Bid: 17%

Ragans joined the Royals’ rotation on July 15, and he has been outstanding. He has allowed three earned runs or less in each start with a 2.08 ERA and 2.61 xFIP. Ragans has 47 strikeouts over 34.2 innings pitched with a 26.2% K-BB. Ragans has been dominant and should continue his dominance over his next two starts versus the Pirates and White Sox.

Closers

Ryan Yarbrough (SP,RP – LAD)

Rostered: 10%
Suggested Bid: 2%

Since joining the Dodgers, Yarbrough has become quite the long reliever. He may not qualify as a closer, but I am putting him here as he can be pretty valuable down the stretch in fantasy leagues. Since joining the Dodgers on August 5,

Yarbrough has made four appearances, throwing 12.1 innings while allowing two runs on solo homers and striking out 12 without a walk. The best part is that Yarbrough has two wins and a save over those four appearances. Don’t sleep on the value Yarbrough brings to your team.

JoJo Romero (RP – STL)

Rostered: 5%
Suggested Bid: 4%

With Ryan Helsley continuing to have setbacks in rehab, Romero will continue to get the save chances in St. Louis. Over his last ten appearances, Romero has allowed four runs over 13.1 innings while striking out 19.

Romero has a win, a hold, and three saves over the ten games. He will provide strikeouts, ratios, and the ability to add a win or save.
