NFL football is finally back. And yes, the preseason counts as real football. The news. The stories. The starters playing one series. The backups vying for roster spots. The veterans clinging to their football lives playing deep into games. The rookies getting their first taste of real action. It’s all so beautiful. And when it comes to preseason DFS, all of that stuff matters. As DBro says, “preseason DFS is gawd’s game.”
Preseason DFS may be for the true degens, but it’s also for those trying to cash in on soft lines from DFS sites. Colts vs. Eagles NFL Preseason DFS Picks
Indianapolis Colts Targets
Week 3 is tough to predict playing time, but we know Anthony Richardson is (at the very least) committed as the starter for Indianapolis tonight. I imagine the Colts won’t do anything crazy with him after naming him the week one starter, but he played 29 snaps in week two and I’d like to think that’s at least his floor tonight. Richardson was managed in the first game with only 5.6 YPA, but he’s got a consistent rushing upside, even in the preseason.
Shane Steichen has said that the rest of the starters will play on a “case-by-case” basis, but as of now there’s really no RB starter anyway with Jonathan Taylor‘s situation so in flux. Huntley only rushed for 2.4 YPC last week but he tied the team lead for carries with eight. This looks like a situation where we could see him receive at least another half’s worth of work
Philadelphia Eagles Targets
Tanner McKee outplayed Marcus Mariota last week, going 10-18 for 147 yards and a TD. Jalen Hurts certainly will not play tonight, and we know what Marcus Mariota is. This is a prime opportunity for the Eagles to see what they have in McKee with extended playing time tonight.
Sermon has had a solid preseason, running for 6.8 YPC and scoring TDs in both tune-up games so far. I highly doubt he’s in the Eagles’ regular season plans, as they have Penny, Swift, Gainwell, and a supposed interest in Jonathan Taylor (this Giant fan is begging for this not to happen). This leaves little doubt that Sermon will get work in this final preseason action, and maybe he winds up giving Philly some trade value.
