8 Players to Trade Now in Dynasty Leagues (2023 Fantasy Football)

What goes up must come down. In terms of dynasty, selling high means, you trade away a player away before their value goes down. It’s all the risk and speculation of the stock market with all the fun of gambling. Trading is one of my favorite parts of dynasty, and here are some players I’m selling in my leagues as long as I can get a fair return. And check out 8 Players to Buy Low in Dynasty Leagues.

8 Dynasty Sell-High Candidates (2023 Fantasy Football)

Josh Allen (QB – BUF)

I can already read the replies: “Sell Josh Allen, are you crazy?!” I mean, maybe, but hear me out. Allen is a terrific quarterback and easily a top-three asset in Superflex leagues. I’m not hating the player, just the price. The Bills look weak at running back, with just Cook and Harris as the likely starting duo, and weak at WR2 with Gabe Davis behind Diggs. Spoiler, there are other Bills in this list, so you’ve been warned if you’re part of the Bills Mafia.

Back to Allen for a moment. He’s got some outstanding value right now, and that’s what I like about him most. If you can pivot down to multiple ascending assets, then you’d be crazy not to entertain a trade. As I’ve said before, don’t trade him just to trade him, but instead, ask for a king’s ransom. Target a team that’s one QB away from a title with a lot of value on their bench. If you can get a solid young QB, a starting RB and a starting WR in return for Allen, that might be worth it. Send out some massive offers and see how it goes. You might be thanking me in a few weeks.

Travis Etienne (RB – JAX)

It feels like the fantasy community as a whole has been somewhat out on Etienne ever since the team drafted Tank Bigsby in April. I get it, but there are other concerns for me. The biggest is Etienne’s price: expert consensus ranking (ECR) RB7 feels like his ceiling. Much like Allen, I love selling players who are at their peak, and that feels like Etienne to me. The Jaguars are a contending team this year, but they’ll be throwing a lot with Trevor Lawrence and his receiving corps. The Bigsby news is just the final straw for me. If I can get a fair offer in return for him, I’m fine getting out on Etienne before the ship sinks once and for all.

Rachaad White (RB – TB)

White feels like a trap to me. He’s currently got a FantasyPros ECR of RB20, but he’s on a team with little to no offensive certainty. I prefer my running backs to be in a scheme where they’ll see a lot of volume, which White should see, but I also like them to see a lot of red zone trips. This second part is what worries me about the Buccaneers in 2023. White isn’t a bad player, but RB20 could end up being the upper end of his potential. I’d much rather pivot off of him to another RB and add in a future pick or player at another position. See if you can find the White truther in your league and make a deal that makes both of you happy.

Aaron Jones (RB – GB)

My final running back on the list is one of my favorites in dynasty over the last few years. Jones has been a stud, no doubt about it, but much like White, Jones is playing on an offense without a definite direction. New QB Jordan Love might lean on Jones more than veteran Aaron Rodgers did, but he also might decide to put the team on his back and avoid Jones for the big play option downfield. If I’m a risky team looking for stability, I want out of Jones. If I’m a boring team with no upside, Jones might be a good fit. Depending on your team build, buying or selling Jones at his current cost might be the right move. Ultimately it’s up to you.

Stefon Diggs (WR – BUF)

The first receiver on this list is highly correlated to my QB to sell. Diggs will go as Allen goes in that Buffalo offense. If I’m expecting Allen to be at his ceiling, Diggs at WR11 in ECR could also be at his ceiling. The receivers behind him all seem to have more upside, so I’d be ecstatic to pivot down from Diggs to someone else in this tier, plus another asset. Can Diggs be a top 10 WR this year? Sure. But I’d rather not bet my fantasy season on it. I’m much happier with Tee Higgins, Drake London, or even Cooper Kupp at this point. See what you can get for Diggs before the season starts. You might be surprised.

Jordan Addison (WR – MIN)

His recent speeding issues aside, Addison’s WR22 ECR value feels a little risky to me. There are a few WR duos in the league who can both be top 24 WR assets, but I’m just not sure Addison and Justin Jefferson will join that group, at least not this year. I like Kirk Cousins, but he’s not lighting the world on fire like Joe Burrow, and Addison isn’t quite as talented as Jaylen Waddle. The Vikings’ offense will need to be firing on all cylinders for Addison to return WR20 numbers, so I’m probably moving him if I can. As always, all that matters is the price here, not the name. If someone wants to overpay for Addison, I’m fine letting them do so, at least for now.

Calvin Ridley (WR – JAX)

Ah, what could have been with Ridley, right? He missed a whole season due to a bogus rule violation, in my opinion, and now dons the zero jersey in Jacksonville with hopes of rekindling his career. He could do worse than catching passes from Trevor Lawrence, but a WR33 ECR scares me a little. If you’ve held onto him throughout the drama, now might not be the best time to move on, but I’d be sending offers as the season approaches to test the waters. Someone in your league probably thinks he’s a WR1. If you can’t find one, then it might be you, and that means you might be stuck with him for the time being. However, once he makes a splash play in the preseason or puts up 100 yards in September, I’m moving on as fast as I can and as high as I can.

Dalton Kincaid (TE – BUF)

The Bills’ sell-high trifecta is complete with rookie TE Kincaid. Unlike Allen and Diggs, the reason I’m selling Kincaid is more related to his price and his position. ECR TE8 feels crazy to me. Haven’t we seen this before? A rookie tight end catches the eyes of dynasty managers but fails to produce, thereby lowering his price during the season. Rather than watching this play out on your team, maybe you can get out early and reap the rewards now. As with everyone on this list, be patient and find the right deal that feels fair to you. I’m sure someone in your league is more optimistic than you are and is willing to play the long game on a rookie TE, or at least that’s what they’ll tell themselves.
