NFL Rumors
Kareem Hunt leaves Colts visit without deal
According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, free agent RB Kareem Hunt is leaving his visit with the Indianapolis Colts without a deal. One was offered, but an agreement was not met.
Fantasy Impact
Hunt, who had the same exact situation play out in his previous visit with the Saints, will likely take time to look over his options. The 28-year-old RB is reported to have other teams interested as well, outside of the Colts and Saints. Despite being relatively healthy and playing all 17 games in 2022, Hunt posted his lowest yards-per-carry and yards-per-reception marks of his six-year career. However, he averaged 70-plus scrimmage yards per game in four of his first five seasons. Whoever signs Hunt will get a versatile playmaker, and Hunt is making sure he chooses the right opportunity.

Injury News
Joe Burrow has no update on timeline
According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (calf) has no update on his timeline to return. Head coach Zac Taylor said he is “several weeks from when [he last] said several weeks.”
Fantasy Impact
The first time Taylor said Burrow was “several weeks away” was July 28, nearly two weeks ago. Taylor’s response indicates that there is likely little update on Burrow’s return from his calf strain. The Bengals’ first game is September 10, and Burrow will likely miss preseason action for the second season in a row in order to keep him healthy. Expectations are that last year’s fantasy QB4 should be ready for the regular season until any updates say otherwise.

Damien Harris misses practice Wednesday
According to Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN, RB Damien Harris missed the Buffalo Bills practice on Wednesday to rest a sore knee.
Fantasy Impact
Harris signed a one-year deal with the Bills over the offseason and could be in line to be a part of a committee backfield in 2023. The fifth-year back was listed as the Bills’ RB2 on their first unofficial depth chart behind second-year RB James Cook. If healthy, Harris could poach some early-down work, short-yardage looks and red zone action, areas where he’s excelled compared to the 190-pound Cook. Harris is being drafted on average as the half-PPR RB40 due to his projected limited role and lack of pass-catching chops, though in a potent offense, he’s an intriguing late-round best ball pick.

Rashod Bateman activated from PUP list
The Ravens activated WR Rashod Bateman from the PUP list Wednesday.
Fantasy Impact
Bateman landed on the physically unable to perform list as he continued to recover from foot surgery for his LisFranc injury. Bateman will see more competition for targets this season with the additions of Zay Flowers and Odell Beckham Jr. The former first-round pick will now get to begin working with the team to get ready for the 2023 season. Bateman currently ranks as the WR48 in ECR, according to FantasyPros.

Jerome Ford (hamstring) considered week-to-week
Jerome Ford is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury.
Fantasy Impact
Ford suffered the right hamstring injury during Monday’s practice. The 23-year-old was in line for a significant role in the Brown’s offense with the departure of Kareem Hunt. Fantasy managers should expect John Kelly, Demetric Felton, and Hassan Hall to see more opportunities in training camp.

Kenneth Walker groin injury not believed to be serious
Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said Kenneth Walker hasn’t practiced since the first day of camp, but his injury is not considered serious.
Fantasy Impact
Carroll added that Walker is running at full speed in a straight line and the next step will be cutting in the next couple of days. If Walker can return to full strength by the middle of August, he should still be in line to be the clear lead back heading into Week 1. In the meantime, Zach Charbonnet figures to be seeing more of the first-team reps in his absence.

Jaylen Waddle heads to locker room at joint practice Wednesday
According to Dave Richard of CBS Sports HQ, Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle went to the locker room with trainers after taking a shot to the ribs and being slow to get up in a joint practice with the Atlanta Falcons.
Fantasy Impact
In his first two seasons in the NFL, Waddle has been one of the most productive WRs across the league. He has 179 career catches for 2,371 yards and 14 touchdowns. Waddle has also shown an ability to be versatile, playing as a WR1 as a rookie with an average depth of target of 7.1 yards and playing as a WR2 as a sophomore averaging more than 18 yards per reception. Waddle’s health is important to the success of Miami’s potent offense and his status should continue to be monitored.

Rookie Watch
Anthony Richardson listed as co-starter on initial depth chart
Anthony Richardson has been listed as a co-starter with Gardner Minshew on the Colts initial depth chart.
Fantasy Impact
It still feels likely that Richardson will be the starting quarterback for the Colts in Week 1, but the initial depth charts usually don’t give the immediate nod to rookies. It will be a situation to monitor throughout the remainder of training camp and preseason play, but Richardson should likely be considered the favorite to start in Week 1 for the Colts.

Skyy Moore seeing every rep with first-team in 2-WR sets
Skyy Moore is reportedly seeing every rep with the first-team Chiefs offense in camp when Kansas City has two wide receivers on the field.
Fantasy Impact
There has been some form of hype for just about every Chiefs wide receiver early in camp, so this is notable to see Moore likely being on the field at all times this season. Newell added that Rashee Rice and Justyn Ross have occasionally mixed in with first-team but overwhelmingly been with the second-team. It is still early and things can change, but Moore likely should be the first Chiefs wide receiver off the board in fantasy drafts this year.

Sam Howell to start Friday against Browns
Sam Howell will start at quarterback for the Washington Commanders against the Cleveland Browns in the team’s preseason opener Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Howell will get the first opportunity to showcase his abilities and make the case to be the team’s starting quarterback, with the second-year signal caller battling veteran Jacoby Brissett throughout training camp. How Howell fares in the first preseason contest could go a long way towards establishing himself as the clear-cut choice for head coach Ron Rivera to be behind center ahead of the regular season.

Adam Trautman could be Broncos’ starter in 2023
Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton said that TE Adam Trautman, who was listed as the TE1 on the team’s first unofficial depth chart, earned the edge for his run blocking, though multiple TEs will play in the system.
Fantasy Impact
Trautman was drafted by Payton and the New Orleans Saints in 2020, playing three seasons and catching 60 passes for 641 yards and four scores. He signed with the Broncos in the offseason and was listed ahead of second-year TE Greg Dulcich on the unofficial preliminary depth chart. Payton said that Dulcich and Trautman could be more of a TE1A and TE1B, though, so they may see plenty of action together. Dulcich, who is a more skilled pass-catcher, may play more of a role as a receiving TE, totaling 411 yards in 10 games as a rookie, while Trautman plays a more all-around role. Denver’s starters are expected to play in the preseason, so it will be a good opportunity to see how they utilize their TEs.

Deshaun Watson to start Browns’ preseason game Friday
According to Ari Meirov of The 33rd Team, Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson is expected to start in their preseason game against the Washington Commanders.
Fantasy Impact
Watson playing is likely a sign that the Browns still want to see him play in more games after a disappointing 2022 season. Watson missed nearly two season of action due to a mixture of holding out, ongoing legal problems and suspensions. However, Watson likely won’t play much more than a quarter as their starter, just enough time to practice some scripted series. Behind him, Joshua Dobbs, Kellen Mond and Dorian Thompson-Robinson could all see time in Friday’s contest.

Baker Mayfield to start at quarterback against Steelers Friday
Baker Mayfield will start at quarterback for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers against the Pittsburgh Steelers Friday.
Fantasy Impact
Mayfield will receive the first opportunity to start after being listed as a co-starter along with second-year signal caller Kyle Trask on Tampa Bay’s first official depth chart. The veteran will look to make the most of his opportunity behind center against the Steelers in what will be a tightly contested position battle for head coach Todd Bowles ahead of the regular season.

Aaron Rodgers will not play Saturday
Aaron Rodgers will not play in the team’s second preseason game against the Carolina Panthers Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Fantasy owners should not be surprised, as Rodgers will likely see minimal snaps prior to the start of the regular season for the Jets. Zach Wilson and Tim Boyle will split time behind center for head coach Robert Saleh against the Panthers.
