As we slog through some of the hottest days on record this summer, there’s never been a better time to stay indoors and prep for those all-important Fantasy Football drafts. The entire purpose of FantasyPros is to help you succeed in your fantasy league, from draft prep with the Cheat Sheet Creator and Draft Simulator to day-of guidance from Draft Wizard to in-season tools like My Playbook. A common thread between these tools is that they all leverage the power of rankings from over 200 of the industry’s brightest fantasy football experts. They all offer the ability to customize whose rankings you’re using – so how do you know which experts to pick? That’s where the FantasyPros NFL Accuracy Competition comes in!
Every year, we collect pre-draft rankings from as many experts as possible, and in 2022 we had 246 experts qualify for the overall accuracy competition by submitting rankings at all four main offensive positions: QB, RB, WR and TE. We also evaluate rankings for defenses, kickers and individual defensive players (IDP), but those don’t impact the overall standings. If you want all the nitty-gritty details, you can see the full accuracy methodology here. The short version is this: We start by determining the pool of players who were ranked highly by ECR in the preseason or finished strong at the end of the season (or both). We then compare each expert’s rankings to final standings using a rank-value template, to quantify the “error” of the prediction implied by each rank. Then we total those errors for the player pool, and use those totals to determine which experts were the most accurate.

- A huge congratulations is in order for Rob Waziak from Fantasy Life! Rob fended off 246 challengers and came out on top by a comfortable margin. He earned the distinction of being the only expert to finish in the top 5 in two different individual positions, finishing 4th for QBs and 2nd for the all-important running backs. This adds to an already excellent track record for Waziak, who has now scored among the top 10 overall experts three times in six years, and he’s never had a bad showing. This adds up to earn him the #2 spot in our multi-year accuracy standings, which use a rolling 3-year window.
- Props are also due to Joe Bond from Fantasy Six Pack, our second place winner! Joe is a veteran of this competition, participating since 2013. This is Bond’s second top-10 finish, adding to a 5th-place finish in 2014. Another great year brings Bond to 15th out of 133 qualified experts in the multi-year standings.
- The bronze medal goes to Justin Weigal from Fantasy Sharks. A relative newcomer, Weigal reaches the podium in just his third season competing, improving on an already-impressive 18th place last year. He joins Waziak as one of only two experts to rank in the top 40 at all four positions.
- Special recognition is in order for Draft Sharks, which becomes the first site to put three different experts in the top 10 in the same year, with Matt Shauf, Kevin English and Jared Smola ranking consecutively at 8, 9 and 10. It was a good year for sharks.
Most Accurate Experts by Position
In addition to the overall standings, we like to recognize the winners at each individual position. Especially impressive is the IDP Guru Ryan Sitzmann, who ads a third draft rankings win to an incredible resume that includes five first-place finishes for in-season accuracy at IDP. A title has never been more earned. You can see the full standings for any individual position on our accuracy page.
