Jahmyr Gibbs comes to terms on rookie deal with Lions
The Detroit Lions announced that they have signed first-round RB Jahmyr Gibbs to his rookie deal ahead of training camp.
Fantasy Impact
Rookies report to training camp for the Lions on July 19, so Gibbs signed right in time for Detroit. The Alabama product accrued 1,370 scrimmage yards and 10 TDs in his one season with the Tide, showing off his ability in both phases on offense. Gibbs will likely fit into a similar role that the team had projected for RB D’Andre Swift as a dual threat offensively, giving him lots of opportunity for high-value touches on a promising offense, though RB David Montgomery will likely eat into his role on the ground and in the red zone. Gibbs is being valued as the RB2 in dynasty rookie drafts.

Josh Downs to compete for starting slot WR role
Josh Downs will compete with veteran receiver Isaiah McKenzie for the primary slot role in the Colts’ offense during training camp.
Fantasy Impact
Downs missed the majority of spring workouts with a knee injury, so McKenzie has the lead for now. Despite being drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft, Downs received high praise from Colts wide receiver coach and former star wideout Reggie Wayne. Downs had a productive career at North Carolina and can fill a slot role nicely, so this will be an interesting training camp battle to watch.
