News and Notes

Hunter Harvey was placed on the 15-day IL on Monday with a right elbow strain, putting Kyle Finnegan back in the Nationals’ closer role. He could also be a potential trade candidate at the deadline.

Rangers manager Bruce Bochy announced last week that Aroldis Chapman and Will Smith would share duties depending on the set of hitters. The one who doesn’t see the save in a given game could be utilized in a set-up role in the eighth inning or potentially saved for the next game.

A.J. Puk has been struggling as of late, allowing multiple runs in three of his past five appearances. Tanner Scott could potentially see more save chances if Puk continues to struggle.

Over the past 30 days, Devin Williams leads the MLB with 12 saves, followed by Camilo Doval with 11 saves, Ryan Pressly with nine saves and Alexis Diaz with eight saves.
