Dynasty Trade Advice

Here are trade proposals based on our Dynasty Trade Value Chart. And here are who our analysts feel will win these trades.

Javonte Williams or J.K. Dobbins

Which side wins?

Team getting Javonte Williams

  • Mike Maher
  • Pat Fitzmaurice
  • Joe Pisapia

Team getting J.K. Dobbins

  • Derek Brown
  • Andrew Erickson
  • Ryan Wormeli

Takeaways

It’s more than a little concerning that Williams is coming off a multi-ligament knee tear, but Dobbins had a multi-ligament knee tear himself.

Dobbins tore his ACL, LCL and meniscus August of 2021 and missed the entire season. He returned in Week 3 last year and still seemed to be limping. He played four games, was used sparingly and didn’t do much. Then he had his knee scoped to break up the post-surgical scar tissue. He missed six games, but when he came back, he looked more like the old Dobbins. He had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games, and then a 93-yard rushing game.

Williams tore his ACL, LCL and posterolateral corner in Week 4 of last year. His recovery is reportedly going well, but there’s no guarantee he’ll be ready for Week 1.

Although Dobbins is further removed from his injury, I’d rather have Williams. He’s a better pass catcher than Dobbins — a big deal in dynasty since most dyno leagues tend to be full PPR — and Williams is going to be playing for Sean Payton, who has a history of milking big fantasy seasons from his RBs.

-Pat Fitzmaurice

Javonte Williams or Jahan Dotson

Which side wins?

Team getting Javonte Williams

  • Mike Maher

Team getting Jahan Dotson

  • Derek Brown
  • Pat Fitzmaurice
  • Joe Pisapia
  • Ryan Wormeli
  • Andrew Erickson

Takeaways

If Williams fully recovers from the devastating multi-ligament knee injury he sustained last October, he’ll be a valuable fantasy asset. He’s extraordinarily talented, which is why so many people were excited about him no longer having to share a backfield with Melvin Gordon.

But Williams’ injury casts doubt over his future. Injury optimism is a dangerous thing in fantasy football, and caution is warranted if you’re considering an investment in Williams.

I’m a big fan of Dotson, a first-round draft pick who played only 12 games as a rookie but scored seven TDs and had five weeks in which he was a top-20 scorer at WR. He’s fast, runs crisp routes, is elusive after the catch and punches well above his weight in contested-catch situations.

Like the majority of my colleagues, I prefer the Dotson side of this deal.

Javonte Williams or James Cook & Marvin Mims Jr.

Which side wins?

Team getting Javonte Williams

  • Ryam Wormeli
  • Pat Fitzmaurice
  • Joe Pisapia

Team getting James Cook & Marvin Mims Jr.

  • Derek Brown
  • Andrew Erickson
  • Mike Maher

Takeaways

While I have major concerns about Williams’ recovery from a major knee injury, I’d prefer to gamble on a full recovery rather than cast my lot with Cook, who’s destined to be a career-long committee back, and Mims, who’s an intriguing prospect but probably too small to ever become a true target hog.

-Pat Fitzmaurice

Hopefully, this can help you as you navigate the trade waters of your dynasty fantasy football league.
