Finding later-round value in fantasy drafts can be the difference between holding the championship hardware and landing in the Toilet Bowl. That’s especially true in high-stakes leagues like those in the Fantasy Football Players Championship (FFPC).

Best Fantasy Football Draft Values on FFPC Leagues
Jamaal Williams (RB – NO) | ADP 110
There’s no denying 2022 was a massive breakout year for former Lions RB Jamaal Williams. Before last season, the veteran ball carrier had never logged more than 153 carries or four touchdowns in a season, let alone eclipsed 1,000 rushing yards. However, last season saw Williams with 262 carries for 1,066 yards and a league-leading 17 rushing touchdowns.
Now in New Orleans and heading into his seventh season, Williams wants to continue the momentum he built in 2022. He is joining a team that managed just 36 red zone carries by RBs, nearly 20 less than Williams’ 53 touches last season. In addition, the New Orleans backfield logged a paltry three red zone TDs to Williams’ 14.
Many believe that Williams’ fantasy value hinges on the availability of veteran Alvin Kamara, who is facing a three-game suspension to start the season. However, in the last two seasons, Kamara has seen his red zone efficiency dwindle, logging five end zone visits in total since the 2020 season. In addition, should Kamara miss time, Williams has shown he can be a force in the passing attack. In offenses without D’Andre Swift on the field, he averaged 39.2 targets per season, with a peak of 47 targets and five receiving touchdowns in Green Bay in 2019.
It isn’t a slam dunk that Williams can’t get even close to his incredible 2022 season. He is entering the season at 28 years old, and the team grabbed former UCLA RB Kendre Miller with the eighth pick in the third round of the NFL Draft this past April. That said, his current FFPC ADP has him going as the overall RB44, which would match the lowest fantasy finish of his career (RB44 in 2018). I would take the bet he eclipses his current ADP and could finish as a high-end RB2 in 2023 if he capitalizes on Kamara’s suspension.
Jared Goff (QB – DET) | ADP 158
It wasn’t all that long ago that Lions QB Jared Goff was in the conversation as an elite signal caller in the NFL. In 2017 and 2018, Goff was a pro bowl QB, finishing as the overall QB6 in the latter year. However, a brutal loss in Super Bowl LIII derailed a promising career for the former Cal Bear.
After two seasons of mediocre play in Los Angeles, the team pulled off a blockbuster deal that netted them QB Matthew Stafford and shipped Goff off to Detroit. His first season was underwhelming, with the team finishing the season 3-10-1 and in the basement of the NFC North. However, there was notable progress for the team, including Goff, and hopes were high for the squad in 2022.
While the Lions narrowly missed the playoffs last season, there was no question it was a vastly improved team from the embarrassment of 2021. They finished the season 9-8, good enough for second in their division ahead of the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears. Goff himself looked elite at times, logging his third-most career passing yards (4,438), tied for second in touchdown passes (29), and third-best completion percentage (65.1).
Heading into the 2023 season, the Lions didn’t just sit idly by. The new-look backfield includes two proficient pass-catching backs, veteran David Montgomery and rookie Jahmyr Gibbs. They also added TE Sam LaPorta in the draft as an athletic replacement for TE TJ Hockenson. These weapons add to an already talented offense with Amon-Ra St. Brown and second-year WR Jameson Williams, who will be eligible to return in Week 7.
Given the talent around him, coupled with what we saw from Goff and the Lions’ offense last season, it would be surprising to see the 2022 QB10 take a step back. He will turn 29 in October, and it appears he has a lot left in the tank. Unless we see him hampered by an injury, I expect his ADP of QB16 to prove to be a steal come the end of this season.
