Fantasy Baseball Injury Roundup

Liam Hendriks (RP – CWS)

Right elbow inflammation had sent Hendriks to the 15-day IL on June 11. There’s good news, though, as the White Sox GM, Rick Hahn, hopes to have him throwing in the coming week. With a cortisone shot done, he might be back in action before the All-Star break if everything goes smoothly.

Mike Clevinger (SP – CWS)

It’s a similar story for Mike Clevinger, currently sidelined with right biceps inflammation. White Sox is optimistic that he’ll resume throwing by the end of the week and hopes he can rejoin the team in a couple of weeks.

Graham Ashcraft (SP – CIN)

Reds rotation may see Graham Ashcraft back after his recovery from a left calf contusion. He’s expected to be activated off the 15-day IL this weekend, providing a needed boost to the team following the sidelining of Hunter Greene.

Kenta Maeda (SP – MIN)

Twins fans will be pleased to hear that Kenta Maeda, recovering from his bicep injury, will likely be back in the major league action by the end of the week. After a recent rehab game, the team will need to make a decision on who to pull from the rotation for his return.

Jose Urquidy (SP – HOU)

Jose Urquidy set out his timeline for his return to the mound, starting with a bullpen session this Wednesday. He plans for two more bullpens on Friday and either Sunday or Monday. If all goes well, he’ll then throw live batting practice before starting a rehab assignment.

Jazz Chisholm Jr. (2B, OF – MIA)

For Jazz Chisholm Jr., live game action is on the horizon this week as he begins his rehab assignment. The exact number of games in his rehab stint is not yet clear, but Marlins fans can expect him back in the mix soon.

Johnny Cueto (SP – MIA)

Another player on the rehab trail is Johnny Cueto, who is expected to make a start on Thursday for Triple-A Jacksonville. If he manages well, a return to the Marlins rotation could be on the cards.

Tim Anderson (SS – CWS)

White Sox’s Tim Anderson is sitting out his second game after being pulled early from Saturday’s game. He hasn’t been moved to the IL, signaling hope from the White Sox that he can return soon.

Romy Gonzalez (2B, OF – CWS)

Shoulder inflammation has landed Romy Gonzalez on the 10-day IL. Zach Remillard, recently recalled, is likely to see more at-bats during Gonzalez’s absence.

Alejandro Kirk (C – TOR)

Blue Jays’ Alejandro Kirk is on the 10-day IL following a left-hand laceration from a hit by pitch. X-rays didn’t show fractures, but Taylor Heineman is called up to share the duties behind the plate with Danny Jansen.

Michael Taylor (OF – MIN)

After a pitch to the head forced him out of Sunday’s game, Michael A. Taylor remains out of the Twins lineup. Here’s hoping it’s a short-term absence, with an IL stint hopefully avoidable.

Tanner Houck (SP, RP – BOS)

Following a nasty facial fracture from a line drive, Tanner Houck is on the 15-day IL. His condition is stable, and we expect to hear more about his potential need for surgery and return timeline later this week.

Anthony Rendon (3B – LAA)

The Los Angeles Angels announced that Anthony Rendon has been placed on the 10-day injured list due to a left wrist contusion. This injury occurred when he was hit by a pitch on Thursday. In his absence, Luis Rengifo and Michael Stefanic should see more at-bats.

Andrew Kittredge (RP – TB)

Andrew Kittredge, who underwent Tommy John surgery in June 2022, is scheduled to throw live batting practice on Friday. If all goes well, Kittredge could potentially make his return around the All-Star break in July.

Brandon Lowe (2B – TB)

The Rays are hopeful that Brandon Lowe will be able to resume pregame drills with the team on Friday. Currently focusing on rehab and core-strengthening work, Lowe’s return timetable remains uncertain.

Kris Bryant (OF – COL)

On Sunday, Bryant (heel) played catch, hit, and did some light running. As Colorado arrives in Cincinnati on Monday, Bryant is expected to increase his workload further.

Alex Cobb (SP – SF)

Alex Cobb of the San Francisco Giants was placed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday due to a left oblique strain. He anticipates a relatively short stint on the IL and fully expects to be ready to go as soon as he’s eligible to come off. Cobb expressed confidence in his readiness to pitch and mentioned he could have even pitched before the designated return date.
