Chris Godwin feeling explosiveness coming back this offseason

Chris Godwin said he is feeling his explosiveness is coming back in his second offseason post-ACL injury.

Fantasy Impact

Godwin found the endzone just three times last season to go along with 1,023 yards through the air on 104 receptions. Despite that, Godwin said he was not feeling fully healthy last season. “It was a night and day difference between last year and this year,” Godwin said. “To be out here now, it’s a blessing. It was a lot of hard work. Like you said, I took some much-needed rest right after the season. But I’m feeling really good. I feel really good with where I’m at. It’s a fresh year, fresh opportunities for myself and all the guys around.” The Bucs offense is going to look different this year with the retirement of Tom Brady, but wide receiver coach Brad Idzik has said Godwin “will do a little bit of everything” in the offense this season.

Travis Etienne Jr. will see reduced workload in 2023

Jaguars OC Press Taylor stated that while Travis Etienne Jr will still be the primary RB for Jacksonville, the percentage of snaps, carries, and receptions won’t be decided until the season begins.

Fantasy Impact

The Jaguars have fortified their running back corps for the 2023 season, supplementing incumbent Travis Etienne Jr. with D’Ernest Johnson and rookie Tank Bigsby. Coach Doug Pederson is enthusiastic about the depth and competition this brings to the team. After Etienne took over as the Jaguars’ top back in 2022, he accounted for 74% of the running back carries. While he ran for 1,125 yards and amassed 1,441 yards from scrimmage, the team seems keen to avoid over-reliance on him moving forward. Fantasy football players should note that while Etienne had a standout 2022 season, the added depth in the backfield might impact his workload this year.

Jimmy Garoppolo, Raiders could terminate contract due to foot injury

Jimmy Garoppolo’s contract contains an “Addendum G” that was previously withheld from the media. The Raiders reserve the right to terminate the QB’s contract should the foot injury prevent the team physician from clearing him to play.

Fantasy Impact

Garoppolo’s fantasy football value remains in flux following these recent revelations about his contract with the Raiders. Addendum G addresses Garoppolo’s 2022 foot injury and subsequent surgery. It acknowledges that Garoppolo wouldn’t pass the team’s physical and that any deterioration, aggravation, or re-injury could leave him unable to fulfill his contract. Garoppolo waives all claims related to the condition against the Raiders and the NFL. Additionally, the Raiders have removed the $11.25 million signing bonus initially offered, making his entire $22.5 million for 2023 a base salary contingent on passing a physical exam. This development, coupled with the team’s ability to terminate the contract due to issues related to his foot injury, puts Garoppolo’s future performance and value in fantasy football under considerable uncertainty.
