Let’s party.
You know that warm giddiness we feel before our August/September draft in our redraft leagues? That feeling is about as much partying as I do these days, so let’s duplicate it today.
Our dynasty rookie drafts can be just as exciting as the big kahuna. We’ve spent months analyzing 18-22 year-olds (or older… sup Stetson Bennett) into oblivion and now they’re on NFL teams and it’s time for *checks watch* more speculation.
I ran a four-round rookie draft using our FREE mock draft simulator and got dealt pick 10 of 12. I went with standard rosters in a PPR league here, too. Here’s how it turned out.

Dynasty Rookie Mock Draft
Pick 1.10: Zay Flowers (WR, BAL)
I gladly scooped up the 22nd-overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft in Flowers when he fell to pick 10. I won’t be surprised if Flowers takes a minute to cement himself, and that’s fine by me. The Ravens are a run-first team and he’s competing with Mark Andrews, Rashod Bateman and Odell Beckham Jr. for targets. However, and stop me if you’ve heard this before… I believe in the talent. Flowers is just a complete receiver. The only critique we can make is that he’s on the smaller side (5’9 170). His actual ability to separate, catch and break away, though, is superb. I’d much rather go Flowers here than dip into the QB/TE tier of C.J. Stroud or Dalton Kincaid.
Pick 2.10: Rashee Rice (WR, KC)
We’ve got pick 10, which means our team was good enough to get us pretty far last season. I’ll gladly pass up underwhelming immediate impact for long-term potential and that’s exactly what we did here with Rice. Rice will catch passes (for all intents and purposes) for the next few years from Patrick Mahomes. The Chiefs’ receivers situation is murky and Travis Kelce is almost 34 years-old. If Rice (pick 55) can build a rapport with Mahomes, there’s a not-so-far-away world where he becomes KC’s WR1. I went with Rice over Levis because this is a one QB league and waiting for Levis to become startable in this format is such a gamble. I also considered Luke Musgrave, but the Packers are a run-first team and I don’t find Musgrave’s skillset particularly tantalizing. For what it’s worth, I would have selected Michael Mayer here had he been available.
Pick 3.10: Michael Wilson (WR, ARI)
Wilson is a player I grew to appreciate during the draft evaluation process. I believe his ceiling is Adam Thielen. He’s that type of player. There’s just nothing not to like about Wilson other than his lack of eye-popping athleticism. He’s going to make it difficult for any quarterback to avoid him because of his on-field polish. Given that he landed in Arizona’s offense, I’d say he has a pretty good chance to make an impact immediately. I wasn’t trying to snag three WR’s in a row but Wilson here is just great value.
Pick 4.10: Jake Haener (QB, NO)
At some point in his career, Jake Haener will earn the role of starting quarterback. I guarantee you that. He’s on the smaller side and he played at Fresno State. Those are basically the only two knocks on Haener. Think of Haener as our prototypical game manager. Should he find himself in a Brock Purdy situation, I would be shocked if he doesn’t excel. Who knows how long Derek Carr will last in New Orleans, but Haener will be waiting in the wings and whether it’s this season or in 2025, when he gets a shot he’ll be ready. I hope. After all, this is pick 4.10 in a rookie draft.
