5 Bold Predictions for the 2023 Season (Fantasy Football)

As we head into each fantasy football season, making some bold predictions is never a bad idea. Now, how often will these come true? Probably not often. After all, they’re meant to be bold predictions. These serve as a catalyst for staking your interest in the hype of a particular player.

Here are five bold predictions for the 2023 season.

Bold Predictions: 2023 Fantasy Football

Here are five bold predictions ahead of the 2023 fantasy football season.

1. Colts’ Anthony Richardson Finishes as Top-3 QB

Drafted No. 4 overall, Richardson had some concerns with accuracy coming out of college, and he’s also on a team with Gardner Minshew, signaling that the team may not feel pressured to play him right away.

However, Richardson possesses a skill set unlike any other. He’s the most athletic quarterback prospect ever. Richardson is coming off a 103-carry season at Florida, where he accumulated 654 yards and nine touchdowns.

The Colts offensive line has to improve this year, and a dynamic duo of Richardson and RB Jonathan Taylor could give the Colts a lethal rushing attack.

It might take some time for Richardson to figure out passing, but his rushing ability makes him a fantasy darling. He could finish with double-digit rushing scores.

2. Bijan Robinson Becomes New CMC

The Falcons invested the No. 7 overall pick in running back Bijan Robinson and he couldn’t have landed in a better spot.

As you may know, the Falcons are coached by Arthur Smith, formerly known for his time as the Tennessee Titans’ offensive coordinator, working closely with Derrick Henry. However, last year with a backfield consisting of Tyler Allgeier as the top back for most of the season, the Falcons were second in the league in rushing yards per game.

With Robinson on the roster, a solid receiving core, and a quarterback in Desmond Ridder getting his first full season, Robinson will not only receive plenty of touches out of the backfield, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see a plethora of dump-offs to this generational talent.

Robinson will prove to be a receiving and rushing yard monster, lead the league in this statistic, and supplant San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey.

3. Calvin Ridley Finishes as Top-10 WR

After getting suspended for the entire 2022 season, Calvin Ridley, the former No.1 option for the Falcons, is back in the fold. If you’ll also recall, he played in a limited fashion in 2021 due to mental health.

As we approach 2023, Ridley has had ample time off and enters a situation with Trevor Lawrence as his quarterback.

The team has Christian Kirk and Zay Jones on the roster.

Look at their lines from last year:

  • Kirk: 133 targets, 84 receptions, 1108 yards, eight touchdowns (WR12 in PPR)
  • Jones: 121 targets, 82 receptions, 823 yards, five touchdowns (WR26 in PPR)

So, as you’ll see, it’s not unheard of for a Jaguars receiver under Lawrence to be productive.

Ridley has been away from the game for quite a while, but through five games in 2021, he had 51 targets, 31 receptions, 281 yards, and two touchdowns. His quarterback that year was an aging Matt Ryan.

There are a lot of mouths to feed in Jacksonville, but Ridley’s talent will emerge and bring him back to top-10 value.

4. Breece Hall Finishes as Top-3 RB

Hall was hurt in Week 7, but even including his stats from that game, through Week 7, he was the RB7 in PPR leagues. Remember, this was with a roster with Joe Flacco, Zach Wilson, and Mike White starting at quarterback.

Coming off an injury is always tough, but with Aaron Rodgers in town, there’s no reason his presence won’t help fend off some defenders and allow Hall to dominate on the ground and through the air.

He was already a top-seven back, so why can’t he compete with the likes of McCaffrey and, based on the other bold prediction, Robinson?

5. Darren Waller Competes For TE1

When you look at the tight end depth chart, it’s pretty miserable after the “big three,” also known as Travis Kelce, George Kittle, and Mark Andrews. However, Andrews now has more competition for targets in Baltimore, and the quarterback situation for Kittle remains to be determined.

Waller is leaving a situation with the Las Vegas Raiders where he and head coach Josh McDaniels didn’t get along.

The Giants have a lot of solid wide receivers, such as Darius Slayton, Wan’Dale Robinson, Isaiah Hodgins, Sterling Shepard, Parris Campbell, and rookie Jalin Hyatt. However, Waller is arguably the best receiving option of this core.

Waller will compete with Daniel Bellinger, who was productive in his own right in 2022, but Waller is a far better player.

Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has that new excellent contract under his belt, and we could start seeing head coach Brian Daboll have his rush-happy quarterback start to sling it a bit more, benefiting Waller.
