Fantasy Football Mock Draft: 2QB, Superflex (2023)

Fantasy Football Mock Draft: 2QB, Superflex (2023)

We’re just a little more than three weeks away from the NFL Draft, and it’s an excellent opportunity to get a landscape on how the 2023 mock draft season will play out. So we took the FantasyPros Mock Draft Tool for a spin in a 2QB/Superflex mock draft starting from the 1.02 position.

If you haven’t checked this tool yet, it’s a great opportunity to get an idea of where each player will land in a specific draft setting. It will give you as real of an experience as an actual draft, along with detailed advice on who our FantasyPros experts believe you should take, the chances certain players will be taken before your next pick, and much more.

I will go over each one of my picks and detail my thought process and why I made that choice.

I hope this helps, and follow me for draft advice.

2QB/Superflex Mock Draft (2023 Fantasy Football)

Round 1

With the second pick and Josh Allen going first, Patrick Mahomes was a no-doubt lock. The reigning MVP also had the most fantasy points, and last time I checked, he still had Travis Kelce to throw to.

Rounds 2 & 3

At this point, all the top-tier quarterbacks and running backs are off the board—still a ton of talent at wide receiver, though. Justin Jefferson, Ja’Marr Chase, and Tyreek Hill were available in that order by expert pick percentage, and I went against the consensus. Hill proved in a new situation that he is one of the best players in the game, and I want that athleticism on my team. I’ll admit it wasn’t easy passing on Jefferson, but Hill’s ability to be used in the passing and running game to create his own opportunity made me grab him.

Dak Prescott was sitting in the third round, and it would be foolish not to grab him. 2022 was a forgettable year, but with the Cowboys adding Brandin Cooks, he has a second option next to CeeDee Lamb, and if the Cowboys grab one of the high tight end prospects like Dalton Kincaid, another plus for him.

Rounds 4 & 5

It doesn’t make a difference if Trey Lance, Sam Darnold, Brock Purdy or Joe Montana comes out of retirement. Kyle Shanahan dumps the ball out to his playmakers and lets them do the rest. No one does that better than Deebo.

I wanted to grab my first running back. I was choosing between Aaron Jones and JK Dobbins, both should be in brand new offenses with inexperienced quarterbacks, and they could see more production. Aaron Jones is in a genuine RBC, but this could be the year for Dobbins.

Rounds 6 & 7

This was the first time where I really weighed out my options. I had Dameon Pierce, Kyle Pitts and Jerry Jeudy as my top options. The signing of Singletary makes me feel Pierce won’t be a 20-touch guy, the questions about the Falcons offense and Pitts coming off an injury, and Jeudy was in one of the worse offenses in the league last year. We’ve heard trade rumors surrounding Jeudy, and he could land in a great spot. Although, if he stays, there is a new coaching staff, so I’ll throw faith in a better year for Denver.

I had to grab my last quarterback in this round. This was the last opportunity to fill my super flex here, so I’m going with a rookie upside. I believe CJ Stroud is the better prospect in regular football, but the strategies in picking in fantasy are much different, so I want Bryce Young. He’s the most dynamic prospect in this draft, and the rushing upside is something you always want in your fantasy quarterback.

2023 NFL Draft Guide: Prospect Rankings & Player Profiles

Rounds 8 & 9

I went after my tight end in this round. Evan Engram had a resurgence year, and he proved that when he’s healthy, he’s a great piece to have on your roster. He was one of the best fantasy players toward the end of the season and will build on that in Jacksonville.

I wanted to grab my last starting running back in this round. I have David Montgomery, Khalil Herbert and Jahmyr Gibbs as options, but I went with James Connor. He was a top-ten running back when he was on the field last year. The durability is an issue, but you’re getting a potential stellar return with great value. My goal is to add at least two sleepers later on for that worst-case scenario.

Rounds 10 & 11

George Pickens was the best option, and I went in that direction. The rookie showed promise all season, and I think he’ll be someone who will take the leap in Year 2.

I like pairing QBs and WRs, and Brandin Cooks was right there. Get Cooks the ball, and he’ll get you points. In this Cowboys offense, with Mike McCarthy calling the plays, we’ll see a lot of passing.

Rounds 12 & 13

At this spot, getting Dallas Goedert is highway robbery. He finished TE12, but that’s only because he missed five games. His 5.8 targets per game were seventh-most amongst tight ends that played at least 12 games, and he was third on the Eagles in red zone targets.

I wanted to add that running back depth I mentioned. Samaje Perine was excellent when he had opportunities to start in Cincinnati. He should be a factor in the Denver backfield, with Javonte Williams returning from a torn ACL.

Rounds 14 & 15

Isaiah Hodgins came in during the middle of the season for the Giants and immediately made an impact. From Weeks 9 through 18, he averaged 9.5 fantasy points, and you’ll take that from a WR3 or WR4 all day.

I broke the traditional pick-your-defense and kicker in the final two rounds. The 49ers were the third-best scoring defense in the league last year, and it will still be at that caliber.

Rounds 16 & 17

I wanted to grab Tank Bigsby because I love him as a prospect. His name says it all because that’s how he runs through the line of scrimmage. He is a compact physical runner who is ideal for goalie situations, but he has improved over his college career in the passing game, his agility, and his elusiveness in the open field. In a great running back rookie class, he stands out.

When I pick a kicker, I want one from high performing offense that can move the ball. I want a great chance of a field goal or extra point on every possession.
