Dynasty Stacks to Draft & Target (2023 Fantasy Football)

Dynasty Stacks to Draft & Target (2023 Fantasy Football)

Stacking players from the same offense isn’t just for best ball leagues. Pairing two players together in the right circumstance can be just as beneficial in your dynasty leagues. Rostering multiple pieces from an explosive offense can do wonders for your fantasy football team weekly, especially if you can manage to do so in a way that flies a little more under the radar and is not cost prohibitive.

Dynasty Stacks to Target (2023 Fantasy Football)

Daniel Jones (QB – NYG) and Darren Waller (TE – NYG)

The Giants retained their quarterback this offseason with a new multi-year extension. Daniel Jones returned QB1 value in 2022 despite having a less-than-impressive supporting cast outside of star running back Saquon Barkley. Shortly after agreeing to terms with their young signal caller, the Giants acquired tight end Darren Waller in a trade from the Las Vegas Raiders. Maybe Waller isn’t the same player he was in 2019 and 2020 when he recorded consecutive seasons of just under 1,200 receiving yards, but he instantly becomes the most accomplished pass catcher for the Giants in 2023.

Look for Jones to return top-12 QB value in 2023, thanks in part to his underrated ability as a rusher, and Waller could be in store for a nice bounce back at the tight end position. We know how challenging finding difference-makers at tight end can be, and if Waller can be had at a slight discount from where he’s been drafted in previous seasons, there could be plenty of rewards to reap.

Mac Jones (QB – NE) and JuJu Smith-Schuster (WR – NE)

Despite there being smoke about Bill Belichick shopping Mac Jones this offseason, it ultimately looks like Jones will be the player under center for the Patriots when the 2023 season gets underway. The Patriots figure to get their offense on the right track after bringing back Bill O’Brien as their offensive coordinator. O’Brien should be able to coordinate an offense that caters to Jones’ strengths as a passer, and newly signed wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster figures to be the biggest beneficiary.

While Smith-Schuster might not be catching passes from Patrick Mahomes any longer, he will see a boost in target share, and opportunity is often king. He eclipsed 100 targets in 2022 while Travis Kelce still saw the Chiefs’ offense funneled through him, but the same caliber of weapon does not currently exist in the Patriots’ pass-catching group.

Jakobi Meyers and Nelson Agholor departed in free agency and left behind 149 vacated targets. Smith-Schuster is the leading target hog in a Patriots offense that should see Mac Jones get back on the track we saw in his 2021 rookie season.

Derek Carr (QB – NO) and Chris Olave (WR – NO)

The New Orleans Saints locked up Derek Carr to be their quarterback early this offseason, and second-year receiver Chris Olave should be smiling ear to ear. While Carr might not be the flashiest or most exciting option, he’s an accomplished quarterback capable of regularly delivering the ball to his top weapons. Olave racked up over 1,000 yards receiving as a rookie in 2022 with Andy Dalton and Jameis Winston under center. Carr is undoubtedly an upgrade for the Saints’ weapons as a whole.

Olave is one of the top young wide receivers in all of fantasy football, and you’ll need to spend up to acquire him either in startup drafts or on the trade market. The benefit to stacking Olave with Carr is in what the total cost will be. Acquiring Carr is unquestionably cheaper than acquiring one of the high-end fantasy quarterbacks. However, he still figures to give you a few productive seasons throwing to one of the best young receivers in football. Carr should flirt with QB1 value in the short term, while Olave is locked in as a WR1 moving forward in dynasty leagues.
