Check out Derek Brown’s dynasty rookie rankings and tiers for running backs.
Dynasty Rookie Rankings & Tiers
Tier 1
Analysis: Robinson is in a class of his own. He could easily get top-ten draft capital in the NFL Draft. He’s a locked and loaded three-down workhorse.
Tier 2
Analysis: Zach Charbonnet is my RB2. He lands in a tier of his own with locked in Day 2 capital and the size to handle a heavy workload in the NFL. Envisioning 250 touches for Charbonnet is much easier than projecting that type of workload for Gibbs. If volume is king in fantasy (it is) then Charbonnet should be valued ahead of Gibbs.
Tier 3
Analysis: Gibbs is a tier below Charbonnet. Gibbs likely goes in round two of the NFL Draft. His trump card is his pass-game utility. He could be a reception machine from Day 1, but his sub 200 lb frame also comes with volume and red zone concerns at the next level.
Tier 4
Analysis: Each of these players has three-down potential. Spears and Hull are plus receivers. Johnson has underrated pass pro and receiving skills.
Tier 5
Analysis: This is the early down 1A complement tier. Each of these backs has pass-game warts that could limit their upside. They are all more scheme-specific backs, too, with some operating better in zone or gap schemes.
