Dynasty Rookie Draft Profile: Zacch Pickens
Zacch Pickens Dynasty Rookie Draft Outlook
Pickens is another ‘ball of clay’ that a DL coach will need to hammer out for him to earn a starting role. Coming into the NFL he’ll most likely be a 3rd down rotational piece because of his strength and burst that allows him to flatten OL and run upfield to pressure and hit the QB. On running downs Pickens hasn’t quite picked up how to get off a double team and outside of his strength on passing downs he’s not stacking moves. Entering the NFL he’ll be a pass-rush IDL with a lot of room to grow.

Zacch Pickens 2023 NFL Draft Outlook
Pickens is a powerfully-built nose tackle with the lower-body strength to hold the point of attack in the run game and the quickness to threaten gaps on passing downs, but who is still raw from a technical standpoint after three years in the starting lineup. He could eventually work his way into a rotation if he learns to use his hands better and develops some different approaches to rushing the passer, so his draft stock will likely depend on how confident teams are in their ability to coach him up.
– Matthew Jones
Projection: Round 4-5
