Dynasty Rookie Draft Profile: J.L. Skinner III
J.L. Skinner III Dynasty Rookie Draft Outlook
Skinner models his game after Kam Chancellor, and while that comp feels lazy to me, it’s easy to see his admiration for Chancellor in the way he plays. Skinner lays the wood any time he’s given the opportunity to, and he doesn’t take any rep off, he’s tenacious! My fear for Skinner is that his frame is not going to be able to last making those types of big hits, and I really prefer him as a free safety so he can make plays on the ball. Hopefully, he can bulk up and keep laying the lumber in the NFL.

J.L. Skinner III 2023 NFL Draft Outlook
A very tall, lanky, and wiry defensive back who was predominantly playing in a robber role during the games reviewed, showing solid
instincts and playing the game with patience and discipline. The lack of snaps in traditional single-high and Cover-2 zones complicates his evaluation but did what he was asked effectively in college, showing pretty reliable tackling and reading route combinations well in zone coverage. Would fit best on a team with a more conservative approach, probably as a box safety or big nickel.
