Dynasty Rookie Draft Profile: Deonte Banks

Deonte Banks Dynasty Rookie Draft Outlook

Banks is a physical specimen, he’s 6’2″ 200lbs, and can stick on a WR like glue! His big frame helps him jam WRs at the line and his aggressiveness puts him in a position to make plays on the ball. Banks can get caught being aggressive which has given him comps to Eli Apple (gross). He can run down the field and stick to a WR but if the receiver gets a step he doesn’t have burst to track him down. Banks needs a little bit of coaching up so he knows when to be aggressive but early in his career he can be a stud in IDP if he’s playing every down.

Deonte Banks 2023 NFL Draft Outlook

A big cornerback with a clean backpedal, solid man-coverage skills, and reliable tackling, he may not be the biggest playmaker at the position in this year’s class, with just two career interceptions, but has the potential to develop into a starting cornerback on the outside if he continues to hone his route-recognition skills/anticipation. Appears to have worked his way into the second-day conversation with a strong recovery from his season-ending shoulder injury in 2021.

Matthew Jones

Projection: Round 3
