NBA DraftKings & FanDuel DFS Primer: Friday (2/10)

That trade deadline was nuts! We didn’t have any monster deals on Thursday as we did earlier in the week, but it felt like every team moved a handful of role players for second-round picks. It’s honestly tough to even track all of the moves, but I’ve buckled down and tried to observe where all the value opens up on this slate. We don’t imagine most traded players will be ready to go here, which should open up some immense value. With that in mind, let’s start by looking at the schedule and odds!

Core Plays

Pascal Siakam (PF/C – TOR): $9,600 DraftKings, $9,000 FanDuel
Siakam was in a slump last month, but if Wednesday is any indication, Sia is out of it. The big man provided 37 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists en route to 64 DraftKings points in that masterpiece. We’ve seen performances like that all year, with Sia scoring nearly 50 fantasy points per game. One of those gems should be easy to reach in this matchup, with Utah allowing the second-most fantasy points to opposing big men while ranked 27th in defensive efficiency ratings.

Deandre Ayton (C – PHX): $8,100 DraftKings, $8,600 FanDuel
With Mikal Bridges and Cameron Johnson being shipped to Brooklyn, it looks like Ayton could have a monster workload here. We say that because Devin Booker and Chris Paul could be sitting in this B2B. If that’s the case, we expect Ayton to play 40 minutes and take at least 20 shots as the focal point of this offense. That’s incredible against Indiana, who owns a 28th OPRK against opposing centers this season. We also don’t mind that Ayton has 56 DK points in back-to-back outings as well.

Malcolm Brogdon (PG/SG – BOS): $6,300 DraftKings, $5,900 FanDuel
With Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart out, Brogdon should be in for a 30-minute role as one of the primary ball handlers. That’s massive with how Malcolm has been playing, averaging 31 DK points per game across his last 16 outings. He’s done most of that damage with a healthy roster, and his role could rise even more with Jayson Tatum nicked up as well. Facing Charlotte is sensational, too, with the Hornets ranked 25th in defensive efficiency and 28th in points allowed.

Cash Game Considerations

Damian Lillard (PG – POR): $10,900 DraftKings, $10,400 FanDuel
Dame is on another planet right now. The sharpshooting point guard is averaging nearly 40 raw points per game across his last 17 outings, scoring at least 43 DK points in 16 of those. He’s also got at least 55 fantasy points in 12 of those and is taking over this offense in the absence of Jusuf Nurkic. We don’t expect Oklahoma City to slow him down, ranked 20th in total defense this year.

Paul George (SF – LAC): $8,900 DraftKings, $8,200 FanDuel
With Kawhi Leonard sitting and numerous Clippers being shipped to other teams, PG13 will do everything for LA in this game. We expect him to have a 35 percent usage rate and attempt at least 20 shots. We’ve seen George play at a $10K level in this sort of role in the past, which is fantastic since George is averaging 43 DK points per game with a full roster. Milwaukee can be a scary matchup, but this team could be a shell of itself in the second half of a B2B set.

Jimmy Butler (SF/PF – MIA): $8,400 DraftKings, $8,800 FanDuel
We love this spot for Jimmy. This perennial All-Star is averaging over 41 DraftKings points per game and has one of the best matchups in fantasy. The Rockets rank 25th in points allowed and 28th in defensive efficiency while surrendering the sixth-most fantasy points to opposing wings. In their one matchup back in December, Jimmy Buckets tallied 57 DK points, despite scoring just 20 raw points on 13 shots. Look for Jimmy to stuff the stat sheet at ease in this tasty matchup.

GPP Targets

Derrick White (PG/SG – BOS): $6,100 DraftKings, $6,100 FanDuel
It looks like White and Brogdon will be running the backcourt in Boston with Brown and Smart both out. That’s led to White scoring at least 26 DK points in eight straight outings, totaling a 34-point average in that span. That’s a tantalizing total from a $6K player, and he could have one of his largest usage rates of the season here. One of those gems came against this horrible Hornets defense, with White amassing 36 DK points just three weeks ago.

Killian Hayes (PG – DET): $4,700 DraftKings, $6,000 FanDuel
Hayes was relegated to bench duties after his injury, but we saw him reenter the starting lineup in his most recent outing. That’s big news because Hayes was a stud as the starting point guard throughout the first half of the season. In his 33 starts this year, Hayes had a 31-point average across 30 minutes a night. You can’t ask for any more from such an affordable player, and it should continue with the way this guy stuffs the stat sheet. The matchup is the best part of this, though, with the Spurs sitting last in both points allowed and defensive efficiency.

Collin Sexton (PG/SG – UTA): $4,000 DraftKings, $5,200 FanDuel
We’ve seen Sexton play at a $7K level in the past, and we have to assume Utah will give him a major look after trading Mike Conley at the deadline. That should also move Sexton into the starting lineup, guaranteeing him 30 minutes. Sexton has scored at least 25 DK points in all eight games he’s played at least 30 minutes, averaging over 32 DraftKings points per game in those outings. This is just one of those price tags that will bump $1,000 more a week from now.

Value Plays

Jalen Duren (PF/C – DET): $5,000 DraftKings, $5,700 FanDuel
This might be our last time recommending Duren after the James Wiseman trade, but he’s in a great spot here. The rookie is averaging 29 DK points per game across his last 25 outings. That makes it hard to understand why he’s still below $6K on both sites because this kid is getting better by the day. Squaring off with the worst defense in the NBA is the icing on the cake, with the Spurs surrendering the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing big men.

Zach Collins (PF/C – SAS): $4,000 DraftKings, $5,000 FanDuel
With Jakob Poeltl being shipped to Toronto, we have to assume Collins will be the starting center in San Antonio. That should force him into a 30-minute role here because the Spurs need someone to guard Duren and Isaiah Stewart. Collins has been remarkable in a limited role all season, averaging 22 DK points per game across 20 minutes a night. Both of those totals should bump by at least 25 percent, and the price tags need to do the same thing. Not to mention, Detroit ranks 29th in both points allowed and defensive efficiency.

Mark Williams (C – CHA): $3,200 DraftKings, $4,800 FanDuel
This guy is the most impactful add in season-long formats after the trade deadline. Charlotte shipped Mason Plumlee to LA, meaning Williams should be the starting center in Charlotte. That’s huge with the upside this guy has shown, with Williams averaging 17 DK points in fewer than 14 minutes a night. We expect both of those totals to double, which means this is the only time you’ll see him this cheap for the remainder of the year.
