Dynasty Rookie Draft Profile: Chris Rodriguez Jr.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. Dynasty Rookie Draft Outlook

Rodriguez exhibits questionable vision on zone runs and will take the cut back often as he lacks the speed to get to the edge. He won’t stretch it to the boundary.

Rodriguez is best utilized as a gap scheme back with clear downhill running lanes. He is a dependable volume back and a solid interior rusher. Rodriguez will get what is blocked, but he displays little ability to get more than that.

Rodriguez has a power-back mentality inviting contact, but he doesn’t have the extra thump or leg drive to run over people. C-Rod possesses straight-line speed & is a one-speed runner.

Chris Rodriguez Jr. 2023 NFL Draft Outlook

A throwback-style power back who wastes no time getting upfield, runs through arm tackles and glancing blows, and fights his way forward for additional yardage after contact to finish strong, but who is closer to an average athlete for the position and doesn’t offer much value in the passing game, limitations which may cause him to end up as, at best, the power-back in a running back committee, or, potentially, as more of a short-yardage or goal-line specialist. Will probably end up in the mid-rounds if teams are comfortable with his character.

Projection: Round 5
