NFL DFS Pricing Exploitation: Week 18 (2022 Fantasy Football)

NFL DFS Pricing Exploitation: Week 18 (2022 Fantasy Football)

It’s the last week of the regular season, and I hope everyone has had a successful one (both in seasonal and DFS). A lot of the playoff pictures have taken shape now, so we’ll have to be extra careful about how this week is handled with respect to players being used for the whole game.

We also have the Bills/Bengals decision hanging in the balance, so it could be unclear how the teams involved in that make their decisions for a while. Thank you all for reading it’s been a blast doing this article every week! Without further ado, the picks…

Quarterback

Teddy Bridgewater (QB – MIA) |$4,900 vs. NYJ

There’s nothing to like about the matchup here, as the Jets rank fifth in pressure rate and have allowed the seventh fewest FPPG to opposing QBs. However, Week 18 brings about some narratives that we don’t see earlier in the season. The Jets have been eliminated, and Miami will be going all-out to win here as they try to supplant the Patriots for the final AFC playoff spot. With Tua Tagovailoa doubtful, Teddy Bridgewater should once again be under center for Miami, and he’s not priced as the starter. He has Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle at his disposal, and the former has an 81% catch rate and 17.4 YPC from Bridgewater.

Running Backs

Zack Moss (RB – IND) |$5,200 vs. HOU

Zack Moss has not done much with his time as the starter in Indy, but there’s no arguing the workload. Moss has 51 carries and three red zone attempts in the three games without Jonathan Taylor. He’s nonexistent in the passing game, but if there was any matchup to look for a breakout, it’s this one. Houston has been the nuts opponent for RBs all season long, allowing the most FPPG and yards, plus 5.3 YPC and 20 rushing TDs to the position. Moss’s price has slowly decreased with his pedestrian box scores, and this is the time to strike.

Matt Breida (RB – NYG) | $5,000 @ PHI

Pay close attention to the Giants’ reports this week, as they’ll be in a spot for value if they choose to rest starters. They’re locked into the sixth seed, so essentially they have nothing to play for except to potentially keep momentum and upend their division rival Eagles. With Saquon Barkley‘s workload this year, I expect Breida to get more action. He’s been efficient with his time on the field. Breida’s yards per touch sits at 4.7, and the Giants have the sixth-highest rush rate in the league.

Wide Receivers

Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS) | $5,900 vs. DAL

Terry McLaurin was a predictable dud in week 17, with Carson Wentz back at QB (2-25-0 on five targets). However, the eliminated Commanders are expected to turn back to Taylor Heinecke for one more week in the finale against Dallas, which should be music to McLaurin’s ears. McLaurin is 11th in the league in air yards and is second in the span with Heinecke as the starter. Dallas has been giving up boatloads in the passing game lately and has allowed the fifth-most FPPG to the position on the season.

Greg Dortch (WR – ARI) | $3,800 @ SF

Greg Dortch’s price tag rose $800 from last week, but he should still be considered one of the extreme values on the slate. Dortch did absolutely nothing a week ago (4-15-0), but it bears mentioning that he still received 10 targets (tied for team lead) after being fed 11 targets the week before. As long as DeAndre Hopkins remains sidelined for the last week, Dortch is a high-volume play that fits builds perfectly for PPR scoring, even in a tough matchup against San Francisco.

Tight End

Dallas Goedert (TE – PHI) | $4,900 vs. NYG

It’s tough to call a rising price tag “exploitable,” but Dallas Goedert is far too cheap this weekend. The Eagles have everything to play for as they try to lock up the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. Goedert should see a massive QB upgrade as Jalen Hurts is likely to return. The Giants have struggled in coverage over the middle this season and are likely to rest starters at some point in this game.

Cade Otton (TE – TB) | $3,000 @ ATL

This is a bit of a tricky one, as we don’t know how Tampa Bay will handle their starters. There are a lot of old players here that will likely need the week to breathe as Tampa is locked into the No. 4 seed, but the rookie Otton is not one of them. Over the past two weeks, he has taken over as the every-down TE, playing over a 90% snap share and receiving 13 targets. Even if Tom Brady doesn’t play all game, Otton has a solid PPR floor against the Falcons, who have given up the fifth-most FPPG to opposing TEs.
