Mojo Market Advice: Buy & Sell (Week 18)

Mojo Market Advice: Buy & Sell (Week 18)

Tampa Bay’s Mike Evans became the third player ever (joining Jerry Rice and Tim Brown) with 1,000+ receiving yards in nine or more consecutive seasons. In addition, he is the first player in franchise history with 200+ receiving yards and three touchdowns in a game. That colossal effort resulted in a 5.50% increase in his Mojo share price. In addition, he has established a strong connection with Tom Brady as the team gears up for another playoff run as NFC South champions.

We will offer a handful of NFL players each week to buy low on (whether short-term or long-term) or sell high before their prices tumble. Here is our Week 18 version of who to buy and sell.

Buy

Daniel Jones (QB – NYG): $29.18

Things are looking up for the New York Giants. Just like the team they share a stadium with (the Jets), the Giants went into this season amid a long playoff drought and needed to figure out if their current quarterback was the quarterback of their future. It is safe to say Daniel Jones looks like New York’s quarterback going forward, as head coach Brian Daboll has gotten the best out of him and cut down his turnovers. Jones’ 36.2 fantasy points against the Colts in Week 17 were the second-most among quarterbacks. He is fantasy’s QB7 on the season and has more points than players like Trevor Lawrence, Kirk Cousins, Tom Brady, and Aaron Rodgers. In addition, his 18 fantasy points per game are on par with quarterbacks like Lamar Jackson and Kyler Murray. Jones became the first Giants quarterback in the Super Bowl era with 90+ rush yards and two rushing touchdowns in a game. New York cracked 30 points for the first time this season, but the most important thing is that Jones appears locked in as the Giants’ quarterback for next year and beyond.

Kenneth Walker III (RB – SEA): $11.43

As long as Pete Carroll is the head coach of Seattle, the Seahawks will commit to the running game, which bodes well for Walker’s outlook going forward. Only four teams had rushed for 130+ yards against the Jets, but Walker did it alone in Week 17. He became the second player with 90+ rush yards against New York, joining Raheem Mostert, who had 113 yards against them on the ground in Week 5. With a must-win situation on tap in Week 18 to keep their playoff hopes alive, we look for another big day from Walker, who faces a Rams defense that just allowed 32.1 fantasy points (most of all running backs) to Austin Ekeler.

Sell

Dalvin Cook (RB -MIN): $16.29

On one hand, Dalvin Cook has 75% of his team’s rushing yards (second-highest in the NFL) and already has totaled 1,300+ scrimmage yards for the fourth consecutive season. However, he is coming off scoring just 6.4 fantasy points against the Packers (t-44th among RBs), his lowest fantasy point output since Week 17 last year against Green Bay. Cook’s 14.7 fantasy points per game average this season is 14th among running backs and is down from his 20.4 points per game average over the last three seasons.

Terry McLaurin (WR – WAS): $13.78

McLaurin is coming off scoring 5.7 fantasy points against the Browns, 49th among wide receivers. He turned five targets into just two receptions for 25 yards with Carson Wentz under center. Without Wentz, McLaurin is averaging two more receptions and 15 more yards per game. He could get back to his 18.4 points per game average over his previous three games with Taylor Heinicke set to start, but we are lowering McLaurin’s ceiling since it is unclear how much the team plans to work Sam Howell into the rotation as well.
