Fantasy Football Injury Updates

DeAndre Hopkins ruled out for Week 18

DeAndre Hopkins has been ruled out for Week 18’s season finale against the San Francisco 49ers due to a knee injury.

Fantasy Impact

Hopkins had to miss last week’s game due to a knee injury, and he will remain out for this week as well. The Cardinals have been eliminated from playoff contention, so this news means that his season is over. His absence opens up more opportunities for Marquise Brown and Robbie Anderson, but neither of them will be reliable fantasy options with David Blough starting at quarterback.

Kyler Murray (ACL) undergoes successful surgery

Kliff Kingsbury told reporters on Wednesday that Kyler Murray underwent successful surgery.

Fantasy Impact

Murray needed an ACL reconstruction and a meniscus repair, so it was more than just a normal ACL tear. The early thought is Murray probably won’t be ready for the start of the 2023 season. That was a main reason why Arizona wanted to shut down Colt McCoy for the rest of the season and avoid anymore set backs or injuries.

Elijah Mitchell (knee) designated to return from IR

The 49ers designated Elijah Mitchell to return from injured reserve on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

Mitchell was expected to do more in practice this week. This is likely to get him ready for the NFL playoffs. It is unlikely he plays on Sunday against the Cardinals.

Christian McCaffrey (ankle) misses practice Wednesday

Christian McCaffrey missed practice on Wednesday.

Fantasy Impact

McCaffrey suffered a mild ankle sprain last week. It would not be shocking to see him sit this week to where Jordan Mason could take over as the lead back against the Cardinals on Sunday.
