Ozzie Albies (finger) has had no restrictions during offseason
Ozzie Albies (finger) has not had any restrictions during the offseason.
Fantasy Impact
After missing the final few weeks of the regular season and the Braves’ divisional-round defeat in October due to a broken pinky finger, Albies has stated that he would have been ready to go had his club advanced to the National League Championship Series. The All-Star second baseman was limited to just 64 games due to multiple injuries in 2022. Albies is looking for a rebound in 2023.

Tanner Houck (back) throwing off mound
Tanner Houck (back) has been throwing off the mound and is on track to be ready for Opening Day.
Fantasy Impact
Houck underwent season-ending back surgery in September. He finished the year with a 3.86 xERA, 22.7 K%, 8.9 BB%, and 4.9 percent barrel rate in 2022. The 26-year-old spent most of last season pitching out of the bullpen and even appeared in save situations, but there is speculation that he could open 2023 in the rotation after the Red Sox lost Nathan Eovaldi and Michael Wacha to free agency.

Chris Sale (wrist) throwing off mound
Chris Sale (wrist) has been throwing off the mound and should be ready for Opening Day.
Fantasy Impact
A ribcage fracture, broken pinky, and broken wrist held Sale to just 5.2 innings over two outings in 2022. He has been quite susceptible to injuries ever since requiring Tommy John surgery in 2020, but the southpaw appears to be healthy again and is on track to serve as Boston’s ace this season. Sale has impressive stuff and should post a high K/BB rate, making him a strong option in all fantasy leagues.

Alex Bregman (finger) starts swinging bat, has healed well
Alex Bregman, who broke his finger during the World Series, has reportedly healed well. The star third baseman resumed swinging a bat on January 1 and is trending in the right direction ahead of Spring Training.
Fantasy Impact
Bregman improved at the plate from 2021 to 2022, slashing .259/.366/.454 with a 13.3% BB%, 11.7 K%, and 136 wRC+ last year. He also slugged 23 homers, which was his highest mark since 2019. Bregman should continue to be viewed as one of the top third basemen in 2023 fantasy baseball.
