Will Travis Etienne Jr. Play in Week 13? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Travis Etienne Jr. left in the first half of the Jaguars’ game against the Ravens with a foot injury. Reports stated he had been cleared to return in the second half, but Jacksonville rolled with JaMycal Hasty instead. After being limited on Wednesday and Thursday, Etienne said he was ready to go for Sunday’s matchup against the Lions. Obviously, fantasy managers would love to have one of their top running backs available against that porous defense, but will Etienne be in his regular form after the injury? Here’s where things are currently.

Travis Etienne Jr. ‘good to go’ in Week 13

Jaguars’ coach Doug Pederson told reporters that Travis Etienne Jr. is “good to go” for their Week 13 matchup against the Lions.

Fantasy Impact

Etienne left last week’s game after only two rushing attempts for three yards with a foot injury. He was limited in practice all week, but if he is good to go, he has a sweet matchup against Detroit’s 26th-ranked rush defense. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation.

What the Experts are Saying

Doug Pederson has stated Etienne is ready to rock. Etienne was limited in practice all week. If he’s active, you’re firing him up as an RB2. Even if Etienne concedes a few touches to Hasty, he’ll still be the lead and presumably goal-line back. In Weeks 7-10, Etienne averaged 21.6 touches and 120 total yards. Etienne is the RB23 in fantasy this season. He’s 19th in yards after contact per attempt, sixth in breakaway rate, and third in PFF’s elusive rating. Since Week 9 Detroit is 16th in rushing success rate, 19th in rushing yards per game, and 13th in explosive run rate allowed.

TBD. Lean towards playing. Mild foot sprains don’t typically cause much production impact, so we’re starting Etienne if he’s active in Week 13.
