It can be helpful to look beyond just Week 14 to get a leg up on your league mates with waiver-wire targets. Here are some options to stash this weekend that shouldn’t break your FAAB budget.

Quarterback
Russell Wilson (DEN) – 49% Rostered
Whisper it quietly, but there are signs of life from Wilson in recent weeks. Since Week 11, 84 percent of Wilson’s passes have been catchable. That’s a significant rise from the 70.4 percent he averaged across the rest of the season. Wilson has seen his QB rating jump from 83.1 to 93.9. in part, because he hasn’t committed a turnover-worthy play in three weeks.
The Broncos are not suddenly going to light things up, but they play the Chiefs twice in the next few weeks along with the Cardinals. Both of those teams rank among the bottom eight for fantasy points allowed to QBs. It’s worth picking Wilson up just in case the signs of life continue.
Tyler Huntley (BAL) – 27% Rostered
Lamar Jackson suffered what is being reported as a PCL strain against the Broncos. With the star QB missing for at least this week, Huntley is back in our lives.
Huntley is a limited quarterback very much not in the same tier as Jackson as a passer. However, Huntley shines is his intermediate accuracy and taking the easy throws. Last year, this resulted in a large concentration of targets for TE Mark Andrews, who will likely prove popular this week.
Huntley averages 51.6 rushing yards in games which he has played the majority of the snaps. That kind of floor makes him very relevant for fantasy purposes.
Mike White (NYJ) – 20% Rostered
With Zach Wilson inactive for the foreseeable future, White returned to the Jets’ starting lineup, setting a season-high among the team’s QBs with a completion rating of 78.6% in Week 12. He followed that up by throwing for 369 yards in Week 13.
This week, White faces the Bills, whose defense has allowed the fourth-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks over the last three games. Then, the Jets will take on the Lions, who have allowed the fifth most. That game is sure to gather some attention.
Running Back
Tyler Allgeier (ATL) – 39% Rostered
The Falcons are a fantasy-football headache that doesn’t deserve much attention in the passing game, but, in the running game, we still need to keep an eye on them as they have the second-most rushing attempts and yards in the league.
Allgeier has established himself as the RB2 behind Cordarrelle Patterson. While he hasn’t had many big fantasy days, Allgeier is running the ball well, averaging 6.0 yards per carry over his last four games. If the Falcons decide to shut Patterson down as the season toils away, Allgeier could see enough volume to be fantasy relevant again.
Zonovan Knight (NYJ) – 53% Rostered
This week, head coach Robert Saleh told reporters that, despite Michael Carter‘s return from injury, Knight will continue to be involved. In the two games Knight has played, he has averaged 5.5 yards per carry and caught all eight of his targets.
The Jets have plenty of fantasy-friendly days ahead. If James Robinson is inactive or Carter can’t command lead-back duties, then Knight should have more chances to shine. At the moment, he looks like the most dynamic option in the backfield.
Jordan Mason (SF) – 13% Rostered
Elijah Mitchell won’t play again this season. Christian McCaffrey is banged up and facing a heavy amount of targets in the receiving game. The Niners don’t use rookie Tyrion Davis-Price on gamedays because he doesn’t play special teams. Mason sees his gameday roster secured because he does. If either player is to start seeing a larger role, it’s likely Mason.
Wide Receivers
Rondale Moore (ARI) – 49% Rostered
We still haven’t seen what Kliff Kingsbury hoped the Cardinals’ offense would like this year. The trio of DeAndre Hopkins, Marquise Brown and Moore are yet to play a single game all together. Moore is likely to garner less attention from defenses with the other two on the field and see a lot of short, low-risk targets. That is ideal for PPR leagues.
Chase Claypool (PIT) – 48% Rostered
The Bears’ wide receiver room is looking awfully thin with Darnell Mooney out for the season. That should present Claypool with a chance to seize a bigger role moving forward.
The Bears are currently on a bye week, but Claypool is worth stashing ahead of fantasy-friendly matchups with the Bills and Lions in Weeks 16 and 17. Both upcoming opponents rank among the three worst teams in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers.
Jameson Williams (DET) – 37% Rostered
Williams returned from his ACL injury and only played eight snaps in Week 13. While it is possible he doesn’t get up to speed to make a difference this season, it’s also possible that he sees his role grow.
Williams might see some high-value targets in a Lions’ receiving core depleted of talent outside of Amon-Ra St. Brown. If you are in a keeper league, Williams is definitely someone to be rostered.
Tight Ends
Noah Fant (SEA) – 29% Rostered
Among tight ends with more than 30 receptions, Fant boasts the greatest catch rate at 80 percent. He hasn’t been explosive this season, but he has been very steady, finishing as a top-ten option in two of his last four games.
Jelani Woods (IND) – 2% Rostered
On Monday Night Football in Week 12, Woods had a true breakout game with eight catches for 98 yards – the overall TE2 performance of that week. He followed that up with a 2-28 game against the Cowboys’ tough defense.
Woods hasn’t been an overly consistent part of the Colts’ offense this season, but it’s likely they keep getting put in come-from-behind scenarios. With games against the Vikings and Giants coming up, Woods will face two defenses who rank in the bottom eight in points allowed to the position.
Defense
Pittsburgh Steelers – 48% Rostered
The Steelers’ defense is picking up steam. It’s a little late in the season to really make an impact, but, in fantasy football, we can still make use of it. With T.J. Watt healthy again, the Steelers terrorized Matt Ryan on Monday Night Football in Week 12, recording three sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception. They came up with an interception in another solid showing against the Falcons last week.
This week, the Steelers face Huntley and the Ravens. They follow that in the coming weeks with the Panthers and Raiders. The Steelers look like one of the best bets to be fantasy relevant over the next few weeks.
New Orleans Saints – 27% Rostered
The waiver wire is very thin on defense, but the Saints might be worth grabbing ahead of a Week 15 divisional matchup with the Falcons. Marshon Lattimore (abdomen) is trending in the right direction and the Saints have the league’s seventh-highest sack rate (8%).
