OwnersBox NBA Values 12.09.22

The NBA season is in full swing, and we are just days away from the true trade window officially opening.  There is a jam-packed slate tonight, which means NBA DFS contests are our focus for Friday night. Being in the money in the smaller contests that OwnersBox offers requires a mixture of top plays who will score like players with salaries of $7,000 or higher and players who are cost-per-projected-point superstars, most commonly found at bargain prices. We will attempt to identify one top play and two bargain bin plays for tonight’s contest. Let’s dig in.

Top Plays

Anthony Edwards (SG – MIN): $6,200
Anthony Edwards has been on fire lately and has been slotted a bargain of a salary of just $6,200 for Friday. This has a lot to do with it being a busy slate, so take advantage of the salary inefficiency wherever possible. Edwards has averaged an insane 54 fantasy points per game over his last three contests and would be a start at this salary regardless of opponent. Edwards should be able to exploit a Utah Jazz defense that has been in the middle of the pack as far as stopping opposing shooting guards. Edwards put up 30 points, five rebounds, two assists, three 3’s, and one block in his lone contest against the Jazz earlier this season and should have an even more well-rounded line this week if he can stay hot from the field. Start Edwards wherever possible.

Bargain Bin

Trey Murphy (SF – NO): $4,200
Trey Murphy has been rolling for the New Orleans Pelicans, averaging a robust 31 fantasy points per game in his last three contests. Murphy highlighted his upside his last time out, posting 20 points, five rebounds, five assists, four 3’s, one steal, and one block. Murphy has scored 20 or more points in four of his last six games and is seeing enough shots to do so once again tonight. He does have a tough matchup against a Phoenix Suns team limiting the position to the second-fewest fantasy points per game, hence the low salary, but has been too hot to ignore at a bargain bin tag. Start Murphy wherever possible.

Moritz Wagner (C – ORL): $4,800
Moritz Wagner has been excellent with Wendell Carter sidelined. He has averaged 33 fantasy points per game in his last three contests and 43 fantasy points per game in his last two. He did struggle against Toronto a few games ago, so that might help explain his low salary for tonight. Whatever the case, Wagner looks like one of the best bargains on the board. Wagner is going to get all the shots and minutes he can handle with Carter sidelined and Mo Bamba falling behind him on the depth chart. Start Wagner wherever possible despite the tough matchup against a Toronto Raptors team surrendering the fourth-fewest fantasy points per game to the center position.
