NFL DFS Week 17 Stacking Advice & Strategy (2022 Fantasy Football)

Most fantasy leagues are in their championship week and many of us will be nursing a New Year’s Eve hangover, but we have a DFS slate this weekend that will allow us to start 2023 off in spectacular fashion. With the Bills, Cowboys and Bengals absent from this slate, we lose a few teams that have provided value in the past. We also have quarterback changes in Washington and Las Vegas to contend with, so how do we attack this slate to give ourselves the best chance to win? Let’s break it down below as we provide you with the best stacks and ideas to use in your lineups.

Davis Mills + Brandin Cooks (QB + WR HOU)

The Houston Texans square off against the Jacksonville Jaguars, allowing us to face the 31st-ranked passing DVOA. The Texans have played better football recently, allowing us to target players on both sides of the ball during the games. The Jaguars’ defense gives up the fifth-highest amount of passing yards and touchdowns this season. They also allow the sixth-highest amount of fantasy points to the position, allowing us to pay down for Davis Mills and have a chance at 4x the salary in our lineups.

We can pair Mills with Brandin Cooks. Again, the solution is straightforward; he receives a multitude of targets. He received nine targets in his first game back and scored a touchdown. Nico Collins is on IR, so Cooks (with his low salary), has the chance to continue being the target hog for his quarterback this Sunday.

James Conner + Arizona DEF (RB + DEF ARI)

In four of the last six weeks, James Conner has been a top-five running back. He now faces an Atlanta Falcons defense that allows the eighth most rushing yards to running backs. Without Kyler Murray, the Cardinals will lean on their run game to support this offense. James Conner is a volume play attached to a talented running back. You need to enter that combination into your lineups whenever you find it.

To play the Arizona defense is risky; however, they are facing an inept Desmond Ridder. With his inexperience, we have a chance for more sacks and pressures that can lead to turnovers. The Cardinals have totaled 12 sacks and four interceptions in the last four games. This defense can create turnovers and keep the opponents from scoring, the perfect combination for our lineup.

Brian Robinson and Logan Thomas (RB + TE WAS)

We will keep this section short and sweet. Antonio Gibson will miss the game, allowing Brian Robinson to handle the majority of the rushing game. Their opponent, the Cleveland Browns, is the 30th-ranked rushing DVOA in the NFL. They are top five in most rushing yards allowed and rushing touchdowns. The Browns also allow the second-highest fantasy points per game to running backs. This Washington RB is a no-brainer type of play for your lineup.

As for Logan Thomas, we stick to our usual rule. If it isn’t Travis Kelce, we fade the position. Logan Thomas returns to our player pool with Carson Wentz as the starter this week. Did you know that once Wentz entered the game, Logan Thomas recorded six targets and had a 38% target share? He also ran a route on 89% of dropbacks. This percentage is the best usage he has seen all year. Wentz loves the safety of his tight end and we don’t see that changing this week.
