We had a very good week last week, nailing picks like Jerick McKinnon, Najee Harris, Latavius Murray, and Garrett Wilson. Of course, any time you pick cheap players, there will be misses. I had Michael Gallup and Cade Otton on my list of misses. Only a few weeks left in the regular, so let’s end strong…

Quarterbacks
DraftKings
Gardner Minshew (QB – PHI) @ DAL $4,800
Minshew is strictly a price-based value pick. He has a tough matchup with the fourth-ranked Cowboys’ pass defense (DVOA), but at a mere $4,800, he’s cheaper than a bunch of quarterbacks that aren’t even playing, like Sam Howell, who has yet to take a snap in the NFL. Minshew has always been a gunslinger, and when you have receivers like A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, just giving them a chance at big plays is enough to make Minshew a worthy dart throw.
Others to consider: Sam Darnold (QB – CAR) vs. DET $5,100
FanDuel
Sam Darnold (CAR) vs. DET $6,700
The Lions have given up eight Top 24 wide receiver games over their last five games, and on the flip side, their run defense has been very good over the last five games. The Lions are what we call a funnel defense. They will stop you from running, but they can’t stop you from passing the ball all over the field. I’d expect a popular cheap stack to include Darnold and D.J. Moore.
Others to consider: Gardner Minshew (PHI) $6,100
Running Backs
DraftKings
J.K. Dobbins (RB – BAL) vs. ATL $5,500
Dobbins is averaging nearly 19 points per game in his two games since returning from his knee injury, and he gets the 26th run defense DVOA in the Falcons this week. The Ravens, with Tyler Huntley under center, will likely be even more run-heavy than normal, which should lead to a large workload for Dobbins. The Falcons give up the second-most fantasy points to running backs on the season.
Others to consider: D’Andre Swift (RB – DET) $5,500 | Jerick McKinnon (RB – KC) $5,900
FanDuel
D’Onta Foreman (RB – CAR) vs. DET $6,100
Fanduel, as usual, has done a much better job with their tight pricing overall — so good, in fact, I had a hard time coming up with some cheap values I truly liked. I went with Foreman over his backfield mate, Chuba Hubbard, because Foreman is the preferred goal-line option. The Lions’ run defense looks like a good matchup when you look at their rankings for the season, 19th DVOA, but they have been much better of late. If you use Foreman, you’re hoping he can fall into the end zone once or twice.
Others to consider: Cordarrelle Patterson (RB – ATL) $6,200 | Gus Edwards (RB – BAL) $5,700
Wide Receivers
DraftKings
D.J. Moore (CAR) @ DET $5,500
I’ve already mentioned how bad the Lions are against the pass, and D.J. Moore has been much better with Sam Darnold under center over the last few games. He has 100 yards or a touchdown in two of his last three games, and Darnold targets him more than any other player on the Panthers.
Others to consider: Richie James (WR – NYG) $3,900 | Jakobi Meyers (WR – NE) $4,800
FanDuel
Darius Slayton (NYG) @ MIN $6,300
Sometimes fantasy value comes down to just being one of the few guys still available. The Giants’ pass-catchers this season have been hit hard with injuries, leaving guys like Slayton and Richie James to play a lot more snaps than they are used to getting. The results have been some modest fantasy relevance, and with a matchup with the 28th pass defense (DVOA) in the Vikings, Slayton could end up with a decent game.
Others to consider: Marquise Goodwin (WR – SEA) $5,800 | Richie James (WR – NYG) $5,200
Tight Ends
DraftKings
Jordan Akins (TE – HOU) @ TEN $2,900
Tight ends have been so bad this season that taking a cheap tight end is truly a dart throw. With a lot of the Texans’ pass-catchers missing games over the last month or so, Akins has proven to be a serviceable pass-catcher. He has five or more targets in three of his last four games, including two touchdowns. The Titans give up the fifth-most fantasy points to tight ends on the season.
Others to consider: Daniel Bellinger (TE – NYG) $3,300
FanDuel
Daniel Bellinger (TE – NYG) @ MIN $4,700
Like Akins, Bellinger has benefited by being healthy with so many of the Giants’ receivers unable to play. As with any cheap tight end, you’re hoping for a touchdown. The Vikings have the 27th-ranked pass defense (DVOA) this season.
