I had a so-so week in terms of this article, but overall it was my best week of the season, so I’ll take it. I hit on a few of the values with Rachaad White and Treylon Burks both having good fantasy games. Those points still count even if Burks’ TD was more lucky than good.
There is much better value on this week’s slate, so let’s jump in…

Quarterback
DraftKings
Jared Goff (QB – DET) vs. JAX | $5,300
Jared Goff reminds me of that movie, “The Prestige.” If you’ve never seen it, be warned this will be a spoiler. For those that have seen it, you remember the end when you find out the magician is actually two people; more specifically, they’re twins. They look alike but act differently, and they live one single life despite being two people.
Well, I swear that Jared Goff has a twin brother; one is Road Goff, and the other is Home Goff. Over the last two seasons with the Lions, Goff has averaged 19 DraftKings points at home but only 11.6 on the road. The Jags present a good matchup for Goff, ranking 30th in pass defense DVOA and giving up the seventh most fantasy points to quarterbacks. It also doesn’t hurt that this game has the second-highest total on the slate at 51.5.
Others to consider: Trevor Lawrence (QB – JAX) vs. DET| $5,900
FanDuel
Kenny Pickett (QB – PIT) @ ATL | $6,700
This is a risky pick and push-come-to-shove, I’m playing Goff as my cheap QB this week. Yet, since I already wrote up Goff, I decided to give Kenny Pickett some love. The Falcons are 29th in pass defense DVOA and bottom nine in points allowed to quarterbacks. Will Pickett light up the scoreboard and put up 30 fantasy points? Probably not, but against this defense at his price tag, with likely low ownership, he’s an option I’d be willing to consider.
Others to consider: Jared Goff (DET) vs. JAX | $6,800
Running Back
DraftKings
Dameon Pierce (RB – HOU) @ CLE | $5,900
After a hot start to the season, Dameon Pierce has cooled off a bit, especially over the last two games, with 4.6 and 3.7 fantasy points. Texans’ fans, I’m sure, are not happy with that lack of production. The Texans coaches aren’t pleased about it, and season-long fantasy football managers feel similar. But, as a DFS player, I love it, and here’s why: His price is sub-6k after peaking at $6.5k two weeks ago, and he gets a matchup with the 31st-ranked rush defense.
Ryan McDowell puts out a flow chart each week on Twitter that shows how many top-24 runnings backs (RB1 or RB2s for my season-long players) a defense has given up on the season. So far, the Browns have given up 14 top 24 games to running backs. Let that set in. The Browns have only played 11 games this season, so they have given up more than one top-24 running back performance in the same game multiple times! Pierce will be highly rostered this week, but there’s good reason for that. Play him.
Others to consider: Latavius Murray (RB – DEN) @ BAL | $5,300, Jaylen Warren (RB – PIT) @ ATL | $4,900
FanDuel
Brian Robinson (RB – WAS) @ NYG | $6,600
It’s looking like Brian Robinson’s backfield mate, Antonio Gibson, may not play this weekend and J.D. McKissic is already gone for the season, leaving Robinson a huge workload against the Giants. The Giants are 28th in rush defense DVOA. While the metrics show they are good from a points-allowed standpoint, it’s more about their ability to keep running backs out of the end zone, which is hard to rely on as a defense.
He’s coming off the best game of his young career with his first 100-yard rushing game and his first receiving touchdown. The Commanders’ recipe for success has been to run the football and play good defense. I don’t see that changing in this game.
Others to consider: Jaylen Warren (RB – PIT) @ ATL | $5,000
Wide Receiver
DraftKings
Zay Jones (WR – JAX) @ DET | $4,900
The Lions have improved their pass defense as the season has progressed, ranking 19th in pass defense DVOA, but they can hardly be called good by any means. Zay Jones is coming in with two straight games of double-digit targets, including a whopping 14 last week. I mentioned in my Goff write-up that this game sports the second-highest game total on the slate, and the Jags have the third-highest implied total at 26.5 points.
Others to consider: Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ) @ MIN | $5,300, Nico Collins (WR – HOU) vs. CLE | $4,200, Donovan Peoples-Jones (WR – CLE) @ HOU | $4,900
FanDuel
Garrett Wilson (WR – NYJ) @ MIN $6,600
It’s Mike White‘s world; we are just living in it. White infused some life into the Jets’ offense last week after stepping in for Zach Wilson. The White pundits are quick to point out that he did what he did last week against a terrible pass defense. Well, he gets the 27th-ranked pass defense DVOA this week, and the Vikings offense will put up points, forcing the Jets to play catchup all game. At $6,600, sign me up for Garrett Wilson and that game script.
Others to consider: Zay Jones (WR – JAX) @ DET | $6,400, Donovan Peoples-Jones (WR – CLE) @ HOU | $6,100
Tight End
DraftKings
Tyler Conklin (TE – NYJ) @ MIN $3,100
As mentioned above, the Vikings’ defense is the 27th pass defense DVOA and bottom nine in points allowed to tight ends. You don’t need much from your tight end, and if you can get four catches for 50 yards and a TD, you’re sitting pretty.
FanDuel
Evan Engram (TE – JAX) @ DET $4,800
As mentioned a few times in this article, the Lions’ defense isn’t good, ranking 19th in pass defense DVOA. Yes, I know, Evan Engram has not been good over his last three games, but he is always a red zone threat. In a game expected to be high scoring, that’s all you can hope for.
