Welcome to Monkey Knife Fight. Monkey Knife Fight is one of the more intriguing entrants in the DFS arena. Instead of the traditional salary cap based contests, Monkey Knife Fight allows DFS players to put their fantasy football knowledge and predictive powers to the test.
They offer fantasy point and stat-based contests. Perhaps the most appealing of all of their offerings is the ‘More or Less’ contests. In these contests, you can choose whether a player will fall above or below totals for a preset combination of two to 10 players. Your win probability obviously goes down with the more players you add, but you receive an increased payout multiplier in exchange.
Since Monkey Knife Fight’s fantasy point and stat-based totals are dynamic, meaning the total, total type, and pairings change throughout the week, it is important to search for favorable and advantageous total pairings to exploit on a daily basis. Ideally, when choosing a total pairing, you want to feel extremely confident on one of the totals and feel strongly enough about the other total to proceed. This week we will take a look at two of the ‘More’ options that stood out the most for Week 13. Isiah Pacheco (RB – KC): 60.5 rushing yards
Isiah Pacheco has been a major boost for the Chiefs running back since assuming true lead back duties. He has recorded 69 or more rushing yards in three straight contests, averaging 86 rushing yards per game. Which way you lean on Pacheco this week depends on whether you weigh player form, opponent defense, or projected gamescript more heavily. Yes, Pacheco has been excellent in his new role, but the 60.5 is higher than the 58.5 it can be found at on the market, and the Bengals are a tough on-paper matchup for the rookie runner. The Bengals defense is allowing just 84.6 rushing yards per game on the season and have allowed just four running backs to rush for more than 61 yards this season. However, with Pacheco dominating carries and the Chiefs likely to look for ways to limit the Bengals time of possession, Pacheco could see a heavy workload this weekend. Tyreek Hill (WR – MIA): 90.5 receiving yards
Tyreek has been elite this season and is averaging an insane 112.1 receiving yards per game. Hill should see plenty of work against a 49ers team that is banged up at the running back position and may have to shift to more of an aerial attack as opposed to the run-heavy attack they would probably have liked to deploy if Christian McCaffrey and Elijah Mitchell were healthy. An increase in overall pass attempts spells good things for Tyreek, who has recorded 94 or more receiving yards in five of the six games in which he has seen 10 or more targets. The 49ers will scheme to stop Tyreek, but McDaniel, much like his mentor Kyle Shanahan can easily scheme and manufacture touches for his star player, including at or behind the line of scrimmage. San Francisco has allowed seven different receivers to rack up at least 91 receiving yards this season, making the More have serious appeal in what could turn into a shootout. The probability is closer to 50 percent than one would like, largely due to Hill failing to cross 86 receiving yards in two straight games, but the More still holds the value. Josh Jacobs (RB – LV): 90.5 rushing yards
Josh Jacobs has been on fire this season. Averaging 105.4 rushing yards on the season, Jacobs has rushed for 109 or more yards in five of his last eight games. He is an immediate More lean after his record-setting Week 12 performance and has a tasty matchup on tap this weekend. Jacobs managed just 57 rushing yards against the Chargers earlier this season, but that was before he went and set the league on fire with his scorching play. Los Angeles has surrendered seven 99 plus rushing yard outings to running backs this season, relinquishing an average of 132.6 rushing yards per game to the position, the second-worst mark in the NFL.
