Fantasy Football Injury Updates
Hayden Hurst (calf) doubtful for Week 14
Bengals’ HC Zac Taylor relayed that Hayden Hurst is doubtful to suit up against the Browns in Week 14 due to a calf injury.
Fantasy Impact
Hurst picked up the injury in the Bengals’ Week 13 win over the Chiefs and was subsequently replaced by backup TE Mitchell Wilcox. Given this report, Wilcox should be in line to start against the Browns for at least one more week. Hurst should have a chance to work his way back against Tampa Bay in Week 16.
Lamar Jackson dealing with a sprained PCL
Lamar Jackson suffered a sprained PCL during Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.
Fantasy Impact
According to Schefter, PCL injuries often sideline players 1-to-3 weeks. Jackson is almost certainly going to be sidelined this Sunday against the Steelers. The question is if he will miss more time or not. Tyler Huntley has proven to be capable as a starter for the Ravens and his rushing upside makes him worth consideration as a streamer this week for fantasy managers.
Odell Beckham Jr.’s health receives concerns from Cowboys
According to ESPN’s Ed Werder, the Dallas Cowboys are concerned WR Odell Beckham Jr’s has not fully healed from his ACL and may not be ready to compete by mid-January or this season.
Fantasy Impact
Beckham remains unsigned after tearing his ACL in last season’s Super Bowl victory, but his health concerns have left him a free agent. According to Werder, the Cowboys are concerned Beckham would not provide value until the 2023 season. Beckham just visited with the Cowboys to open the week, and with a short list of destinations, Dallas may not be one after all.
Jimmy Garoppolo could return for postseason
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, QB Jimmy Garoppolo does not need to undergo foot surgery, dodging a Lisfranc injury. With a best-case rehab process, Garoppolo could return in 7-8 weeks for a late playoff run.
Fantasy Impact
Garoppolo managed to avoid a 100% season-ending injury, though he may not play again depending on how his rehab or the 49ers’ regular or postseason go. Regardless, for fantasy purposes, his season is over. QB Brock Purdy seems to be the starter going forward, though they also signed QB Josh Johnson. Neither should likely be starting QBs in fantasy going forward.
