Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Dameon Pierce (ankle) could miss 1-2 games

Dameon Pierce is suffering from a high ankle sprain and could miss 1-2 games.

Fantasy Impact

There was no structural damage to Pierce’s ankle on the MRI, which is great news for the Texans and Pierce. Pierce missing 1-2 games at the start of the fantasy playoffs is going to leave a void in many rosters. With the Texans out of contention, they are likely to play it safe and wait for Pierce to be completely healed up before he returns to the field.

Kenny Pickett in concussion protocol

Kenny Pickett is in the concussion protocol to begin Week 15.

Fantasy Impact

Pickett was knocked out of Week 14’s matchup with the Ravens early and never returned. He is now in the concussion protocol to begin the week. Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said they are taking things “day-to-day” with the young QB and nothing is definitive at this point. Practice reps will be divided up between Mitch Trubisky and Mason Rudolph until Pickett is ready to get back on the field. The Steelers will visit Carolina on Sunday.

Nate Miller

Lamar Jackson (knee) does not practice on Tuesday

Lamar Jackson was absent from practice on Tuesday as he continues to deal with a knee injury he incurred back in Week 13.

Fantasy Impact

Jackson was initially given a one to three week timetable following the injury, so it is not overly surprisingly that he remains sidelined at this point. His status for the remainder of the week bears watching, but unfortunately for the Ravens they do play on Saturday in Week 15. If Jackson remains out, the Ravens will be down to either Tyler Huntley or Anthony Brown at QB, the former of who is dealing with a head injury himself.

Dan Tursky

Deebo Samuel (knee, ankle) expected to return in three weeks

49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expects Deebo Samuel to return to action in three weeks after he suffered a sprained MCL and ankle on Sunday.

Fantasy Impact

Original reports stated that Samuel is expected to return before the end of the regular season, and this statement by Shanahan backs them. Fantasy managers are hoping that this return comes in Week 17 for the fantasy football championship, but it is possible that the return doesn’t happen until Week 18. His status will likely be updated on a week-to-week basis going forward.
