Fantasy Football Injury Updates

Corey Davis (head) hopeful to play Week 15

According to The Athletic’s Connor Hughes, the New York Jets are hopeful that WR Corey Davis could play Week 15 despite entering the concussion protocol.

Fantasy Impact

Davis left the game early on Sunday, recording just one catch for 15 yards, and was put into concussion protocol and did not return. After taking a knee to the head, Davis needs to clear the steps in order to be eligible to play. However, the Jets are hopeful he can play. Davis has been a favorite target of QB Mike White when healthy, logging 10 targets in Week 13. If Davis plays, he has a favorable matchup against the Lions and could be a flex play if needed.

Dameon Pierce (ankle) status to be determined for Week 15

Speaking with reporters on Monday, Texans’ HC Lovie Smith mentioned that it is too early to tell if Dameon Pierce will be available for Week 15 following an ankle injury he suffered against Dallas.

Fantasy Impact

Pierce left the game against the Cowboys on Sunday, finishing with an efficient 22-78-1 rushing line prior to his exit. Lovie Smith did note in his presser that it would “take an awful lot” for Pierce not to play next week, so it sounds like the rookie back will be pushing to get out there. Fantasy owners would surely like to have him available as some season-long formats begin their playoffs this week. Pierce’s practice reps and status needs to be monitored throughout the next few days for updates.

Marcus Mariota likely headed to injured reserve

Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith says that QB Marcus Mariota is getting his knee checked out and is likely headed to injured reserve.

Fantasy Impact

Mariota started all 13 games for the Falcons, playing every snap. Mariota was producing QB2-level output in fantasy and had 2,219 yards in the air and a career-high 438 yards on the ground with 19 total touchdowns and nine interceptions. With Mariota headed to IR, rookie QB Desmond Ridder is the starter going forward. The Falcons will likely remain a run-heavy offense to close the season as they push for a playoff berth.

DJ Moore (knee) injury not considered significant

According to sources, Carolina WR DJ Moore is considered “day-to-day” with a knee sprain that does not appear to be significant.

Fantasy Impact

Moore had an MRI on Monday to determine the severity of his injury and received good news. He should now be in range of suiting up against the Steelers in Week 15. Moore’s status will be worth following along this week in practice.
