Will Van Jefferson Play in Week 9? (2022 Fantasy Football)

Van Jefferson made his 2022 debut in Week 8 and ran 23 routes with zero targets. Fantasy managers who stashed him or nabbed him off waivers as a bye-week replacement were left out in the cold. Now it’s a week later, and the Rams are preparing for a showdown against the Buccaneers. Will an additional week’s worth of practices gain the 26-year-old some targets? Or is he best left sitting on the waiver wire for Week 9? Here’s what we know.

Van Jefferson (knee) will play Sunday

Van Jefferson (knee) will officially be active for Sunday’s game vs the Buccaneers.

Fantasy Impact

Jefferson had been limited in practice throughout the week but looks to be ready to roll for Sunday. He was held without a target in Week 8, so he will look to get into a groove in Week 9 and try to add a spark to the Rams’ offense.

What the Experts are Saying

Jefferson is a deep league stash only. He returned to the lineup last week, running 23 cardio routes without drawing a target. This offense is in shambles. Jefferson won’t be the Rams’ savior.

-Derek Brown

Expect a rapid ramp-up for Jefferson. He’s three months removed from knee surgery, so he’ll likely be back soon to full explosiveness levels. I wouldn’t roll the dice on starting him yet, but he has the potential to be a sneaky good DFS value in the coming weeks. Keep him on your buy-low radars for season-long and dynasty.
