NHL DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: Tuesday (11/1)

NHL DraftKings and FanDuel DFS Primer: Tuesday (11/1)

Tuesday’s NHL slate is massive, which means more opportunity to dig up value in DFS! The 2023 season is now in its second month and is celebrating with 12 games for fans to enjoy.

Teams are beginning to pull away from others in divisional races, notably, Boston and Vegas, who sit atop their divisions with a double-digit goal differential only ten games into the season. Conversely, plenty of struggling teams will be lacing up their skates on Tuesday night, including Arizona, Philadelphia, Seattle, and Montreal. Don’t fade players on these teams due to a tough matchup. It’s my job to steer you toward frequent contributors or highly efficient players regardless of the team they wear on their sweaters.

Let’s explore a few of my favorite players to target when constructing DFS lineups ahead of Tuesday’s jam-packed slate.

Recommended Plays: DraftKings

DraftKings maximum salary is set at $50,000

Nico Hischier (C – Devils): $6,800
New Jersey is amid a three-game win streak with a plus-eight goal differential, scoring 31 goals in nine games. The Devils’ first-line center, Nico Hischier, has scored three points in his last three games while unloading three to eight shots on goal. Vancouver presents a pretty even matchup for New Jersey, but expected netminder Thatcher Demko (G – Canucks) is 1-5 allowing 4.05 GAA this season. Hischier is a must-start with fantastic value based on his sub-$7,000 salary on DraftKings.

Brad Marchand (LW – Bruins): $7,400
Boston recently got its top-scoring weapon back in the lineup, which only adds more firepower to the league’s best team right now. Brad Marchand had double hip surgery this offseason but looked just as explosive in his first game of the 2023 season against Columbus, scoring two goals and an assist. Marchand gets Pittsburgh goaltender Tristan Jarry (G – Penguins), which is easy money considering Jarry’s allowed ten goals in his previous two starts.

Mikhail Sergachev (D – Lightning): $5,400
Tampa Bay is consistently one of the best rosters in the league and defenseman Mikhail Sergachev adds value in the back end, scoring five points in his last five games played. The 24-year-old is a low-volume shooter and is coming off of a zero-point outing against San Jose, but Sergachev gets a bounce-back spot against Ottawa netminder Anton Forsberg (G – Senators) on Tuesday night.

Logan Thompson (G – Golden Knights): $7,800
Vegas is on top for many reasons but one of them is the play of goaltender Logan Thompson. The Golden Knights have found a potential stud in the crease, as the 25-year-old netminder has a 4-2 record with a 1.69 GAA. He’s discounted against Washington’s high-powered offense, so take advantage and plug Thompson in as a confident foundational piece in DFS lineups.

Recommended Plays: FanDuel

FanDuel maximum salary is set at $55,000

Jack Eichel (C – Golden Knights): $8,200
Buffalo acquired Jack Eichel in the middle of last season and he showed some good production but lacked consistency. Eichel is still a bit volatile in terms of production but he’s scored three points and attempted nine shots on goal across his previous two games played. Washington goaltender Charlie Lindgren (G – Capitals) is not a threat, allowing over three goals per start, so plug Eichel in despite the high salary in a game that has the point total line favoring over six total goals in D.C. on Tuesday night.

Evander Kane (LW – Oilers): $7,900
Edmonton is nipping at the heels of Vegas in the Pacific division, scoring 34 goals in nine games played. Evander Kane has made an impact, racking up two multi-point outings in two of his previous four games. Kane was held without a point against Calgary on Saturday, but a few days to rest and a good matchup against Nashville create an ideal situation to plug Kane in at a discounted rate on FanDuel.

Dougie Hamilton (D – Devils): $5,600
New Jersey added veterans throughout its young roster across the last couple of offseasons, which included defenseman Dougie Hamilton. He’s played the part, churning out four assists in a three-game span before being held without a point in his last outing against Columbus. Hamilton is a high-volume shooter, especially for a defenseman, and has three double-digit finishes on FanDuel. Thatcher Demko has surrendered four goals in three of his previous four starts, so Hamilton possesses huge value buried on a busy Tuesday slate.

Sergei Bobrovsky (G – Panthers): $8,600
Play the matchup in DFS, especially when your rostered goalie is facing the Arizona Coyotes. Florida netminder Sergei Bobrovsky is 2-3 and allowing over 3.07 GAA, but he’s played potent offenses such as Tampa Bay, Philadelphia, and Chicago. Bobrovsky will return to form against the Coyotes on the road Tuesday night, so pay up to acquire his production in FanDuel lineups.
