Week 9 is here in the NFL, so we have another chance to win some money with our stacks in DFS this Sunday. However, this week differs from the past; this slate has viable options at cheaper prices within the quarterback position. Usually, we advise you to lean high price QB in this article, but this week the only practical option there is Josh Allen. So if you like to save money, build unique stacks and win cash, the best bet is to follow the choices below.
Justin Fields + Darnell Mooney + Tyreek Hill (QB+WR Chi/ WR Mia)
This stack is my favorite pay-down option when it comes to quarterback. He is priced at $5,300 on DraftKings, which allows us to pay up elsewhere while obtaining a Konami Code at QB. Fields has been a top-eight quarterback the last three weeks in fantasy. He enters this game as second in rushing attempts and second in rushing yards; this provides us with the safe floor we are looking for at the position. The ceiling potential comes from the Miami defense struggling with quarterback play. On DraftKings, the Miami Defense surrenders the sixth most points per game (Fanduel the seventh most). Fields will have to throw and perform to the highest ability to keep pace with a Miami offense that is firing on all cylinders and receives a depleted Chicago Bears defense that traded all of their stud players.
My tie-in to Fields is Darnell Mooney. It is risky to use a pass-catching option in this offense. However, the upside is there as the Miami def has allowed the eight most fantasy points per game to the position. In his last six games, Mooney is averaging six targets a game. I’ll take this shot to stack in this high OU on Sunday.
I am comfortable with Mooney in my lineup because I am using my saving there on Tyreek Hill. What is there to say about a player who has almost hit 200 yards twice in three weeks? He leads the NFL in receiving yards and always brings the potential to 5x his salary. Tyreek Hill is my lock player of the week.
Aaron Jones + Amon-Ra St. Brown + James Mitchell (RB GB/ Wr+ TE Det)
Rule of thumb this year in DFS: Play against the Detroit Lions defense.
This defense should allow Aaron Jones the chance at a career day in fantasy; they allow the third most fantasy points per game to the running back position. The Lions’ defense also allows the sixth-most yards and second-most touchdowns to the position. Aaron Jones is a focal point to this offense, and against a sketchy defense that is bottom of the barrel regarding yards per play allowed, he is a must in your lineups.
Amon-Ra St. Brown is a simple play due to the T.J. Hockenson trade now opening up a nearly 20% target share. The safety net for Jared Goff has a chance to provide a safe floor and an extremely high ceiling. We also throw in James Mitchell, my favorite punt play on the slate. At the moment of writing this article, Brock Wright is questionable with a concussion and is in the protocol. The Lions use their tight end at a higher clip allowing for the chance to have this punt play pay off for our lineups.
Even if he doesn’t pay off with high dividends, his savings allows us to build our roster elsewhere. We only need a little production to triple his salary. On DraftKings, a stat line of four receptions for 56 yards brings us close to 10 fantasy points on the day.
Chris Godwin + Buccaneers Def (WR + Def TB)
Usually, I stack my defense with a running back. However, this week, we will make a unique stack with the wide receiver. Godwin has been Brady’s primary target when he needs a safety value. Since week four, Godwin has only had one game under ten targets. He has also had six or more receptions in every one of those games.
The reason for the defense is simple, Matthew Stafford is a turnover machine. We stick with our tried and true ruling that sacks and pressures lead to turnovers. This defense should get to Stafford early and often face a weak Rams offensive line.
